MIXING FIREWORKS WITH AUTISM
When I was a kid, the fireworks were my favorite event of the summer...I couldn't wait to take my own children out to enjoy the family celebrations of the Fourth of July, but that came with a huge challenge for us. I learned very quickly that autism and fireworks do not mix...With many trials and tribulations, I've learned that while Autism and Fireworks don't mix, neither do oil and water, but you still need them to bake a cake so I knew it just had to be possible to have success.

Did You Know?
Any Allegheny County resident who requires additional assistance due to special needs during a police, fire or medical emergency may submit information to this voluntary registry. This includes any physical or mental disability that would keep an individual from leaving the home quickly if they had to do so. This can include individuals with autism, those who are deaf-blind, and those who have intellectual disabilities, as well as individuals who have physical challenges. In the event that someone is unable to submit information on their own, a person who is authorized to act on their behalf may do so.
