25th Annual Spring Rebuilding Day celebration!
|
On Saturday, April 25, 2015, Rebuilding Together Seattle celebrated its
25th Annual Spring Rebuilding Day
. Roughly 1,000 volunteers worked to restore the homes of 25 deserving families spanning from Shoreline to SeaTac. The signature program event (launched in April 1990) commemorated Rebuilding Together Seattle's 25th year of service to the greater Seattle community.
Highlights from the day included special anniversary supporter presentations to top sponsors Greenpoint Technologies, Booz Allen Hamilton, Wells Fargo, Perkins Coie, Center for Spiritual Living, and Stratos. The Junior League of Seattle, who helped launch Rebuilding Together Seattle in 1989 (formerly
Christmas in April) celebrated their 25th consecutive house project with Rebuilding Together Seattle that day.
The most memorable moments from the day were hearing from the homeowners and community organizations served. Program Recipients, Mary and Ruby in Leschi (pictured above, left), shared:
"We never thought in a million years our house would get a makeover. It feels like a miracle. The repairs are what we need to help us move forward. You have stopped the bleeding at our home."

2nd Annual Breakfast success!

Tuesday, May 12
,
250 guests gathered at the Grand Hyatt Seattle for Rebuilding Together Seattle's 2nd Annual Safe and Healthy Homes Breakfast. Event sponsors, donors, and volunteers raised over $94,000 to
help low income homeowners in need of critical home repairs!
Event highlights included the 25th Anniversary Awards presentations,
presented to the Junior League of Seattle and Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland PLLC. Guests also heard from Emcee, Tony Ventrella (Seattle Seahawks), Keynote Speaker, Marty Kooistra (Housing Development Consortium), and Honorary Chair, Mary Herche (Founding Board Member of Rebuilding Together Seattle).
One of the most memorable parts of the morning was hearing from Program Recipient,
Marita
. Marita shared: "
Rebuilding Together Seattle is a shining light in my life. The people who came to my home resuscitated me and brought me back to life. You got me out of the quicksand. I have legs under me now. Because of you, I'm starting to live again
."
