Another Great Veteran and His Family Get A Mortgage-Free Home

Marine  Jonathan Andrade, Nicole his wife and their growing family of four are the latest of our vets to receive a mortgage free home. Jonathan (USMC) served two tours in Iraq and has a little bit of a brighter future thanks to Military Warriors Support Foundation and Wells Fargo. It's hard to explain what a great gift this is to a veteran who is 100% (service-related) disabled.  Like many other combat wounded veterans, that means that on a certain day(s) he or she was almost killed in service to their country.  It's been said that when an individual joins the Armed Services, t hey write a blank check to the United States of America and its citizens for up to, and including his/her life. Jonathan was one of those that almost made good on that check.  Thank goodness he came back to us. This gift to Jonathan and his family is in recognition of the sacrifice he's made.

Congratulations Jonathan. You deserve this home and more.

Car Donation Helps Marine Father Get Back on the Road

Pearl reached out to us because she had something very special that she wanted to see go to a good home. Her car of thirty years, her "baby" as she called it. She wanted it to go to a veteran and we were happy to oblige. We had just the veteran in mind. Javier, a Marine who served three tours in Iraq, and a struggling father. We understand how challenging it can be improving your life situation when you have no way to get from point A to point B. We helped Javier through the process of getting back on the road and we have Pearl to thank. Individuals like her help us to truly change the lives of those we serve and we are grateful for their generosity.

Now through December 15th

Combin ed Federal Campaign (CFC) is well under way. We have been busy all over Southern California speakin g to Federal employees. So far, we have been to the Security and Exchange  commission, the Federal Air Marshals, the San Diego VA, the Long Beach VA, the LA Air Force Base, FAA, FBI, Custom and Border Protection and the Social Security Administration several times.
So you can say we are off to a very busy start with still a long way to go until Dec 15th when campaign season ends.

Please pass along our CFC number to any friend or family member who participates in the CFC and wishes to show their support for our wounded veterans. Thank you for your support.

It is a long standing belief of Wounded Heroes of America that it is not just the government's responsibility, but rather everyone's obligation to care for our combat wounded. When we help a warrior wounded in combat, we are helping someone who nearly gave their life so we could have our freedom.    We truly value those leaders in the community who recognize this fact. O n behalf of those we serve,  Thank you .

The Los Angeles County Fair

For the last three years the Los Angeles County Fair (LACF) has hosted Wounded Heroes of America for a "Day at the Fair." It's one of our biggest get-togethers of the year and this year we had over 130 in attendence - veterans and their families.  Thank you Jim Henwood and the wonderful LACF staff for helping us create this family environment.

"Thank you again for EVERYTHING  TODAY!!!I Honestly, can't thank  you
enough for the much needed smiles you brought to my family's face today."

OPERATION
Santa

Operation Santa in our Christmas program and it is an exciting time of year.  Friends in the community hold toy collections for children ages birth to 18 years and these children are those of our fallen and wounded veterans. Every year we collect these gifts and wrap them here at the office. The catch is, these toys are being wrapped by veterans themselves. They sign their packaging with their name so the child receiving the gift knows who it was wrapped by. Once we have all our presents wrapped, a veteran puts on a Santa suit and with a caravan of WHOA veterans and volunteers, he delivers presents to households from Los Angeles to the Valley to San Diego. It's hard to emphasize how special an experience this is for everyone involved.

We have over a hundred children in our foundation and the number grows every year. If you would like to hold a toy drive for Operation Santa, please contact us.  Santa needs all the help he can get!
