MABLETON IMPROVEMENT COALITION

NEWSLETTER

January 18, 2016

From the President...

Welcome to winter! Though the temperatures are low, economic activity in Mableton seems to be picking up if zoning applications are any indicator. For February, there will be 8 zoning cases under consideration by the Planning Commission and Board of Commissioners.

How can you find out more about zoning applications? It's easy!
  • Read this newsletter! The first newsletter of each month lists all the zoning cases recently decided and pending. Click here to read the January 1st newsletter.
  • Join our Facebook group. MIC Zoning Committee members post information about zoning cases and you can read the conversations about them, too.
  • Attend Commissioner Cupid's monthly community zoning meetings in Mableton on the last Wednesday of each month at 6pm at the South Cobb Community Center. The next meeting is January 27th.

The MIC Zoning Committee analyzes each application, then makes a recommendation to the Board of Directors as to MIC's position on each case. Both the Zoning Committee and the Board want to hear from you, so please be in touch on Facebook or via email to Robin Meyer, MIC's Zoning Committee Chair.

Stay tuned to this newsletter and our Facebook page for all the news about Mableton. As always, feel free to give me a call or send me an email - I'm always ready to talk about Mableton!

Sincerely,

Joel Cope

Help Clean up Floyd Road
Saturday, January 23rd at 9am
Our first Adopt-a-Mile of 2016 will be Saturday, January 23rd, starting promptly at 9am. We will meet in the Kroger Shopping Center parking lot area adjacent to the Autobell Car Wash on Floyd Road.  Autobell will host this event and will provide refreshments for those who "finish the course".

With the first phase of the Floyd Road improvement project complete with the added medians, it's a bigger job than before, so your help will be greatly appreciated.  It ta kes only about an hour for MIC volunteers to pick up the accumulated trash and it's an hour well-spent! Floyd Road will look a whole lot better when we are done. Wear a warm coat, sturdy shoes or boots and bring gloves if you like. We provide latex gloves, safety vests, trash bags, bottled water - and a warm welcome.

Please contact Dave McDaniel if you plan to participate or if you have any questions/concerns.  If we know you're coming, we'll keep you posted in case of inclement weather.
