Exhibitor/Sponsor Registration Open for DFI's 39th Annual Conference
Online registration for the 39th Annual Conference on Deep Foundations is open for exhibitors and sponsors at www.deepfoundations2014.org. All other attendees may register beginning January 20.
Abstracts for presentaions are being accepted until January 10. Click here for details.
The conference, being held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, begins on Tuesday, October 21 with day-long meetings of DFI's 15 technical committees. The conference officially opens on Wednesday, October 22 with the Exhibit Hall of more than 100 manufacturer and supplier displays and technical presentations on projects and case studies of national and local interest. The conference concludes on Friday, October 24.

DFI Workshop on Levee and Coastal Rehabilitation
There is still time to register for the Workshop on Levee and Coastal Rehabilitation presented by the DFI Seepage Control Working Group (SCWG) at the Hyatt Regency Miami, in Miami, Florida on February 12-14, 2014.
This 2.5-day event includes a 2-day workshop on February 12-13, followed by a half day of meetings and training on February 14. The workshop is the second in a series on best practices for seepage cut-off projects and focuses on ground improvement/foundation strengthening for levee an coastal restoration. Organizational meetings for future SCWG activities will be held on the half-day parallel with a three-hour training session on the EFFC-DFI Carbon Calculator. Workshop sessions and training are open to all attendees.

International Conference on Piling & Deep Foundations in Sweden
Registration is open for the DFI-EFFC International Conference on Piling & Deep Foundations being held May 21-23, 2014, in Stockholm Sweden.
A new highlight this year is the Technical Video Session featuring a series of 15-minute presentations highlighting innovative foundation works. Each presentation includes an introduction by the author, a 10-minute video and a short Q&A. Conference participants are encouraged to submit a video for consideration.

We encourage you to submit your work and nominate your colleagues for 2014 DFI Awards: the Outstanding Project Award, Distinguished Service Award, C. William Bermingham Innovation Award and Ben C. Gerwick Award for Innovation in Design and Construction of Marine Foundations. Submissions are due by April 15, 2014.

Changes for DFI Journal
DFI has contracted with Maney Publishing, an independent publishing company specializing in journals in materials science and engineering, the humanities and health science, to publish the DFI Journal. The partnership allows DFI to retain editorial control and ownership of the Journal, and continue producing a publication with practice-oriented papers.
The new lead co-editors of DFI Journal are Anne Lemnitzer, Ph.D., assistant professor of Structural/Geotechnical Engineering at University of California and Timothy Siegel, P.E., G.E., D.GE, principal engineer at Dan Brown and Associates, LLC.
The 2014 Editorial Board includes previous lead co-editor, Zia Zafir, Ph.D., G.E., of Kleinfelder; Antonio Marinucci, Ph.D., P.E., of American Equipment and Fabricating; and previous associate editor, Thomas Weaver, Ph.D., P.E., of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. |
