Youth Hockey Scholarships Available; Named in Memory of Bryan Rufenach

Centre Ice Arena and the Grand Traverse Hockey Association have established two $500 scholarships in memory of Bryan Rufenach, a Detroit Red Wings 2007 seventh round draft pick who played for the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Toledo Walleye and passed away in 2012 while traveling in Switzerland.
The scholarships will be awarded for the 2015-2016 season to two deserving youth hockey players in need of financial assistance for the sole purpose of offsetting the cost of GTHA fees. To be considered for the scholarships, interested parties must fill out an application which will require them to write a brief essay detailing why they are a deserving candidate. Community and family members are encouraged to recommend players they believe to be suitable candidates. The $500 scholarships will be applied directly towards the two recipients' GTHA accounts. The application with complete instructions is available to be downloaded by visiting   www.centreice.org.

Deadline for submitting an application is September 1, 2015 at 5:00 pm. Awards will be announced on September 8, 2015, one day before the GTHA registration deadline on September 9.
