Grace Notes:

Hate Won't Win

The summer of 2015 has been filled with dramatic and memorable events, both nationally and internationally, but one of the most important ones for me was when family members of those who were slain at Emanuel AME church in Charleston were allowed into a courtroom to address the killer. Alana Simmons, whose grandfather, Daniel Simmons, died in June's deadly shooting, was one of those who stood before Dylan Roof to offer words of grace and forgiveness. At the end of her remarks, she said: "My grandfather and the other victims died at the hands of hate, but hate won't win."

Flower Chart

There is a Flower Chart and system for providing altar flowers each Sunday. We have contracted with a florist to provide the flowers at the nominal cost of $40 a week, delivered to the church. If you would like to provide your own flowers please provide us with a week's notice so we can have the florist hold the delivery for that week. We will have one bouquet on the left side of the altar area. You may sign up on the bulletin board near the office.

An Offer from Habitat of Humanity, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity has been blessed with an abundance of gifts and they want to share them with their faith partners. Presently, they have Hardie plank siding and Valspar exterior paint that can given to low-income homeowners who need new siding and don't have the means to buy these items themselves. If you know of someone in our congregation who would be a good candidate for this, please contact Pastor Ruud. It is also possible that we could put together a crew of volunteers who could assist with the project.
