Congratulations to

HC DrugFree's Executive Director

HC DrugFree's Executive Director, Joan Webb Scornaienchi, was named as one of Maryland's Most Admired CEOs by The Daily Record, a statewide business and legal newspaper.

This new award highlights some of the most notably talented CEOs leading the State's nonprofit, for profit and public companies. Winners were selected based on their demonstration of strong leadership, integrity, values, vision, commitment to excellence, financial performance and ongoing commitment to their communities and diversity.

Joan was selected to represent the "Nonprofit with Less than $10 Million in Annual Revenue" category. The award ceremony to honor the 24 recipients was held on September 13th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baltimore.

Earlier this year, Joan was named by the same newspaper as one of Maryland's Top 100 Women in 2012 for her success professionally as well as through volunteer and mentoring activities and she also received Howard County's Celebrating Successes Award in the High School category.

Prior to joining HC DrugFree in 2009, Joan served at the Maryland State Department of Education for eight years. She worked in higher education for much of her career, but she began her career as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist. As she says, her career has come full circle.

In December 2011, HC DrugFree was awarded a contract with the Howard County Health Department to provide substance abuse prevention services. By way of that contract, Joan serves as the Howard County Prevention Coordinator and the Coordinator of a countywide alcohol coalition. She is in her second term as Chair of the Howard County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Advisory Board.

Congratulations to Joan for having an incredible year.
