What is mindfulness? 

According the Mindfulness in Schools Project, mindfulness is "learning to direct our attention to our experience as it unfolds, moment by moment, with open-minded curiosity and acceptance." Mindfulness refers to the process of quieting down, focusing on your breath, and taking a minute to be aware of your present state and surroundings.

Students who practice mindfulness in schools have shown significant improvements in: 

• Paying attention
• Self-control
• Classroom participation
• Respect for others
• Decreased symptoms of depression and ADHD 

Research shows that meditation changes your brain:

• Increases grey matter to areas responsible for learning and memory
• Decreases grey matter in areas responsible for anxiety and stress
