Mark your calendars for the Annual Legislative Breakfast sponsored by Summers Taylor, Inc.  The event will be held Friday, March 11, 8-10 a.m. at the General Morgan Inn & Conference Center.  The cost is $20 prepaid or $25 at the door.  Deadline to register or to cancel a reservation is Tuesday, March 8.  Call 638-4111 or email [email protected]. 

The Teacher Supply Depot will be open Tuesday, January 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Medical Office Building No. 2 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. Greeneville and Greene County public school teachers are invited to shop the depot for free school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis. All teachers must bring proper school identification to enter the depot. Due to limited space and in an effort to serve as many teachers as possible, it is requested that teachers visit the depot unaccompanied. The Partnership is working with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development to provide a space in our parking lot for a visit from the East Tennessee Career Coach. The objective will be to recruit employers from the area who may be hiring and connect them with job seekers in our area. The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development has released the highly-anticipated 2016 Official Tennessee Vacation Guide! This year, the guide includes "18 Magical Tennessee Experiences" highlighting the state's most authentic tourism attractions including Greeneville's Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. Tourism will participate in the Tennessee Motor Coach Association's mini-marketplace at the Meadowview Convention Center January 26 from 8:30 to 10 p.m.  This provides a low-cost opportunity to reach more than 40 motor coach companies that will be participating in the conference.  If you or your company would like to donate an item for the "Greeneville Gift Basket" which will be given away to one of these tour companies, please contact Tammy Kinser by Wednesday, January 20. 

Tourism is working with the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development's Assistant Commissioner Pete Rosenboro to develop an overnight welcome center familiarization (FAM) tour that will highlight attractions, lodging, shopping and dining spots in Greeneville.  Tourism has hosted welcome center FAMs in the past but those tours were limited to an 8-5 workday.  This overnight tour will give Tourism the opportunity to showcase even more of the community by including more local stops, interviews and tours. 

Congratulations to Greeneville High School's award-winning Advanced Chorus that will be performing at the world premiere of "Mortals and Angels: A Bluegrass Te Deum" at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City January 25. Since the chorus was not given advanced notice, they have not had time to do fundraising to help with the expenses. Scott Niswonger has graciously offered to pay the participation fees, airfare and lodging but students will need to contribute about $600 each for meals, baggage fees, ground transportation, museum entrance fees and a show ticket. As a result, community donations are being accepted. Checks should be made out to "GHS Chorus Boosters" and mailed to Kathryn May at Greeneville High School, 210 Tusculum Blvd., Greeneville, TN 37745. Mark your calendars now and make plans to attend the town of Greeneville's upcoming Comprehensive Plan workshops. The January 21 meeting will focus on "Growth in Special Localities: Downtown," and the February 18 session will cover "Community Activities." The final meeting on March 10 will address "Capital Improvement." All of the sessions are being held at the Greeneville City Schools Building at 129 W.
