Hello, ATLANTA!

NTBA Travels to the Peach State for the

2015 Fall Roundtable:

October 16-18 in Atlanta

The National Town Builders' Association (NTBA) is heading to the Peach State for the 2015 Fall Roundtable, scheduled to take place from Friday afternoon, October 16 through Sunday morning, October 18 in Atlanta, Georgia.  "The Politics and Process of Adaptive Reuse" and "The Power of Good Design" are the topics for the Roundtable, hosted by NTBA Member and Eastmore developer David Roper and Jackie Benson, one of the NTBA's founding members.

Atlanta is a hive of impressive in-town development projects that can be used for inspiration, creativity, and problem solving. During the Fall Roundtable, David and Jackie will be joined by some of Atlanta's most respected urban developers and placemaking authorities as they present the back story of some surprising and fascinating projects, including Ponce City MarketHistoric Fourth Ward Park, and the Atlanta Beltline, among others.

Historic Fourth Ward Park

Educational presentations will take place in our host hotel, the Hyatt Atlanta Midtown Hotel, and charter bus transportation will be provided to the East and West sides of Atlanta for our walking tours of the subject urban neighborhoods.

Registration will be available soon.  In the meantime, please mark your calendars and stay tuned for good things to come.

Road Trip to Serenbe Anyone?

Registrants for the Fall Roundtable may also sign up for the Serenbe Road Trip, an experience you won't want to miss!  The vision for the community of Serenbe was born in an effort to protect the beautiful rural land just outside of Atlanta known as Chattahoochee Hill Country. The first house at Serenbe was built in 2004 and today the community is home to over 400 residents. Serenbe has won numerous awards including the Urban Land Institute Inaugural Sustainability Award, the Atlanta Regional Commission "Development of Excellence", and EarthCraft's "Development of the Year."

Participants will check into their rooms at Serenbe on Thursday afternoon, October 15. A dinner at the Farmhouse will follow.  On Friday morning enjoy breakfast at The Daisy, then join Serenbe Founder Steve Nygren and Serenbe resident (and former Seaside Institute Director) Phyllis Bleiweis for a presentation and tour of this acclaimed project. Lunch will follow.  Additional details and registration will be available soon.

for Atlanta Bootcamp

October 13-14, 2015

A Rookie Developer Bootcamp will be held in Atlanta on October 13-14, 2015. This Bootcamp precedes the NTBA Roundtable, making it more convenient to attend both events.  The Bootcamp is designed to provide the tools needed to remove barriers to entry for energetic, potential small developers and builders.  Some NTBA developer members will be attending to lend their hard-learned experience to these emerging developers.
