Apply for the LGBT Resource Center Internship Program for 2016-2017 school year!
LGBT Resource Center Interns will develop skills and competency in the following areas:
- Making referrals to campus and community resources
- Group Facilitation
- Event planning and management
- Self-reflection and identity development
- Office Administration
- Program Development and Evaluation
- Ability to understand the connections between theory and praxis
- Community building
- Social Justice
During the course of the internship, students receive:
- Mentoring and supervision from professional staff
- Leadership Development opportunities
- Social Justice Education

Trans Discussion Group
Wednesdays, 4-5pm
This is a closed space for trans-identified individuals to talk about various trans-related issues. It's a good place to find community at UCSD. |

Fluid Attraction
Wednesdays, 5-6pm
Fluid Attraction is a discussion group that meets up every week on Wednesdays from 5-6 to have a supportive space to talk about fluid, bisexual, pansexual, queer, biromantic, panromantic, and questioning identities.

The Coming Out group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender Identities in a confidential setting. This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, or questioning folks who are coming out, considering coming out or may already be out. Topics are determined by group participants and can include stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, family/cultural issues, excitement and celebration with regard to coming out.
The group is open to new members the first 3 meetings of each quarter and then closes to maintain safe space.

I-House Photo Competition

I-House is currently holding its first annual photo competition, and anyone can submit! Winners will be displayed in The Great Hall at Winter Sunday Supper as well as receive a $25 gift voucher. Viewers will be able to vote for their favorites after the submission deadline. There will be five categories for photos. Applicants may submit one photo per category.

Want to learn a new language? Want to share your language with others? The Language Tables are one of International House's most popular programs. Each quarter a variety of language tables are hosted and attended by students, staff, faculty, and anyone from the public willing to join. Language Tables provide the chance to teach and learn a language in a natural environment, through conversation with someone who is fluent in that language.

Beyond La Jolla: History and Hair Story: 400 Years Without a Comb

Meet at Cross Cultural Center
Join the Cross-Cultural Center at an art exhibit exploring the history of African American hair, and its role in our present culture. Meet at the CCC at 9am; we'll then go off-campus to the California Center for the Arts. Morning and afternoon light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free for UCSD students, and PID required. There will be a $5 deposit, but it will be returned the day of the event.

The Alan Turing Memorial Scholarship is a $10,000 award paid in spring quarter 2016 for undergrads majoring in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, public policy, communications and other programs touching on networked systems and who are active in supporting the LGBT community. Have you ever experienced microaggressions, discrimination, or even blatant racism within the UCSD community? Black Student Union wants to make sure your experiences never go unnoticed. Here is a Google Form for students to submit incidents that happen to them at UCSD. This is so that BSU can keep track of them and take these into account when advocating for students. This is not a replacement for OPHD (Office of Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination), but a supplement.

A new website called the Queer College Review aims to gather reviews of colleges in terms of how queer-friendly they are. This will be a tremendously helpful to prospective students applying for college. Victory Empowerment Fellowship
Deadline: Jan. 25th, 2016
The Victory Institute invites transgender people and LGBT leaders of color to apply to the Victory Empowerment Fellowship for Summer 2016.
The program includes a stipend, housing in D.C., placement in a congressional internship and travel to/from Washington, D.C., as well as travel and registration to the 2016 LGBT Leaders Conference.

AVID Tutors Wanted

Lesbian Body Image Survey
The Department of Psychology at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville is doing a study on lesbian attitudes & feelings about your own body,gender identity and gender expression. Lesbians over 18 are eligible and $50 Amazon gift cards will be raffled for participants. The survey should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.

Trans* Studies: an international transdisciplinary conference on gender, embodiment, and sexuality

This is an academic conference for any work relating to transgender issues, showcasing work in various fields. there will be panels and opportunities to meet in small groups. Submissions and proposals are welcome; please first submit 250 abstracts of proposed papers as well as a one-paragraph author's biography.

Young Women's Discussion Group

We will discuss issues relevant such as politics, academics, careers, relationships, social media, pop culture, activism and ways to be involved in the LGBT community. A San Diego team recently launched a new iOS app called TUTUroomii. This app is designed to help LGBTQ+ young people and allies find ideal roommates in their own community. This app is available in the App Store.

Survey of LGBTQ Military Personnel
A doctoral student at the University of Oklahoma is writing a dissertation on the identity process of LGBTQ people who have served in the U.S. military. They're interested in reaching LGBTQ U.S. military personnel, and heterosexual/cisgender
personnel who had a personal or professional relationship with an LGBTQ military service person (someone to whom an LGBTQ service member disclosed their sexual or gender identity).
