Stewardship 2016 ~A Way of Life~
Thank you to everyone who has turned in their pledge cards; the plate was overflowing with gifts last Sunday at the Stewardship Ingathering and Blessing. If you have not turned in your pledge as of yet there is still time. You may bring it with you to church and place it in the collection plate or mail it to the church at your earliest convenience.

Dear Epiphany Photograph taken by Dianne Auld at Nubble Lighthouse, York, ME As the seasons turn and we enter October, the hand of our Creator is once again on display. We will give thanks for the abundance of harvest, bless our animals in worship, feel the refreshing chill in the air and watch as the trees are brushed each day with a different hue of brilliant color. This past Sunday, millions observed the transformation of the super moon through an eclipse into deep reds and oranges. Truly God is marvelous and all these wonders are not an ounce of our own doing. We have only to notice and give praise and thanks. Below is a hymn that speaks to the amazing God who creates such powerful beauty and then redeems us by acting through that creation. Perhaps it is a hymn we will learn someday soon, but in the meantime let it be our prayer of hope and praise to our loving God. Grace and peace be with you, Jennifer
God the sculptor of the mountains, God the miller of the sand, God the jeweler of the heavens, God the potter of the land: you are womb of all creation, we are formless; shape us now.
God the nuisance to the Pharaoh, God the cleaver of the sea, God the pillar of the darkness, God the beacon of the free: you are gate of all deliv'rance, we are sightless; lead us now.
God the dresser of the vineyard, God the planter of the wheat, God the reaper of the harvest, God the source of all we eat: you are host at every table, we are hungry; feed us now.
God the unexpected infant, God the calm, determined youth, God the table turning prophet, God the resurrected Truth: you are present every moment, we are searching; meet us now. Text by: The Rev. John Thornburg, 1993 |
