From the Desk of Mrs. DiTommaso:

Dear St. Ignatius Families:

Volunteers are an important part in the life of our school. Since the state has adjusted the requirements it is imperative that all parents take care of the updates needed. Your roles as lunch room monitor, yard monitor, home room moms, readers, chaperones, greeters and the like afford our teachers an opportunity to have you share in the life of our school. Sooo please check your clearances etc. in order to be able to continue to be a help for our students. All forms can be found on our web site under Current Families and then Safe Environment.

Volunteers need:

1. PA State Police clearance dated 2013 or later
2. PA Child Abuse History clearance - dated 2013 or later
3. Read online the Mandated Reporter Brochure and return to school the signed Mandated Reporter
Acknowledgement Form.
4. FBI Fingerprints - if you have not lived for 10 consecutive years in PA
5. Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers - if you have lived in the state of PA for 10 or more
consecutive years - complete, sign and return to school

Numbers 4 and 5 are new requirements. Please take note and complete the one that applies to you.

Take care of this as soon as possible especially if you are planning on chaperoning any class trips.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Looking towards next school year! Open House will be held on Tuesday, November 10 from 9:00 - 11:00am and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Pass the word to family, friends and neighbors. Registration begins in January for our Full Day Kindergarten and Pre K Programs. Do not be left without a spot.

Calling all alumni of St. Ignatius of Antioch School! We want to reconnect with you. Send contact information to: [email protected] thanks!

A very special religious opportunity begins on October 11 in St. Ignatius Parish. Forty Hours Devotion begins after the 11:30 Mass. Just what is Forty Hours you might be thinking? This devotion is a period of forty hours of continuous prayer made in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in solemn exposition. It began in the Philadelphia diocese in 1853 introduced by St. John Neumann as a way to pray for healing from the anti-Catholic sentiment that was commonplace at that time.

Please set aside some time during the day to come and kneel in the presence of the Lord. Can't make the day time come at 7:30pm to hear the guest homilist speak about: "The Eucharist- God's Passion for Us. God's Mercy towards us." This is a perfect discussion as we approach the Year of Mercy at the end of November. Our students will be coming to church on Monday and Tuesday to adore the Blessed Sacrament.

October is the Month of the Rosary. Each class will have an opportunity to pray the rosary in our Rosary Garden or in front of our Mary statute. Please feel free to join them in prayer. The schedule is:
Mondays - grades 2 and 4
Tuesdays - grade 6
Wednesdays - grades K, 1A, 5 and 7
Thursdays - grade 3
Fridays - grades 1B and 8

Reminders:
Car Line - All cars are to be parked and a parent or other adult must walk their student to the school in the morning or back to the car in the afternoon. Safety first is the rule! Please drive slowly when leaving the lot and remember that pedestrians have the right of way.

I look forward to seeing you at our First Friday 9:00 Mass this week.

God Bless,

Mrs. DiTommaso
