Issue # 79 - April 24, 2015

I really didn't send my April newsletter over and over!  I am just learning this program and didn't see everything I needed to change.  I hope you'll forgive me and read this issue.  If you live in the Houston area and would like to share expenses on a school visit on Oct. 15, 2015, please contact me.
New books!  I have a new book about a school play this month.  My friend, Laurie Calkhoven has a new one about military dogs.  Hope you'll check them both out!
            In Wish Upon a StarFish,
  Pearl loves to be the
star of everything, but
when her best friend gets
the part that she wants,
what will she do?   My book unit will be up soon.
Find out about the role animals
                 have played in the
                                     military in Military Animals.
Literature Fun!

I bet you can do better than me on this Classic Literature last line quiz.  Good luck!  My  score was a dismal five.
As I've been unpacking box after box of books in my new home, I found this article about how to display books for kids in interesting ways.
Did you know about Dr. Seuss' new book
History nerd
I am a bit of a history nerd.  (Yes, that's me dressed as the History Hound with Molly Pitcher).  In Pennsylvania, I volunteered at the Moland House, a home where Lafayette joined the Colonial Army.  I wonder what history projects I can find in my new home of Tennessee?  So, this student project to write a local history book intrigued me.  Perhaps you'd like to try a simpler version with your class.
Favorite Facebook Pictures from this month:  A beautiful mermaid (Sophia Lopez) and two reading charts (one I came up with).
