    Happy summer or happy winter.

Whatever your season, I hope you

are making the best use of precious

time to pursue your goals and dreams,

because "life is short."  At the end of

    every worship service, my

spiritual leader, Joseph Constant     speaks these prophetic words and adds "we don't have too much time to gladden the hearts of those with whom we travel every day. So be swift to be kind, hasten to be gentle and let your light shine to reflect all good things." Just imagine if we all practiced with mindfulness, the spirit of this message of civility in our daily lives. Life is the work of relating, influencing and serving as we grow to fulfill our higher purpose.

I believe it is my life purpose to teach and inspire, particularly the young. In this newsletter I am thrilled to share highlights of my ongoing efforts to empower girls and women through education and training programs. This work, which is also a learning process for me, focuses on helping girls embrace a healthy self image, project a confident, can do attitude and master the skills and social savvy necessary to achieve and succeed with hard work and focus. This is the essence of Every Girl Can and other personal development, life skills programs we offer to help girls build respect, trust and integrity, the S.M.A.R.T way.  More info at  the click of this link

Mis. Quince Anos - Coming of Age

Program for Teen Girls

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure to be chosen as one of the presenters for a Quinceanera program. This is a coming of age celebration for Latina girls as they celebrate their 15th birthday. Below are a few pictures of the girls getting ready for the banquet which was the final event after a six-month-long program. The girls received mentoring, life skills training and participated in field trips, shopping, dining and other fun with learning activities. I am so proud of the girls and the progress they made through the program. Kudos to the

M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation who made it possible for girls to have this empowering experience. The next program starts in the spring of 2016.

Every Girl Can Chosen to Receive

Charitable donation and

Two Congressional Citations

A big thank you to the St. Andrew's High School Past Students Association - Washington DC chapter for selecting Every Girl Can to receive their annual donation in support of a local charitable program. The announcement was made at their annual  "White with a Touch of Red" fundraiser dance held in Beltsville, Maryland in June of 2015. Special thanks to Association leaders Dr. Althea Belcher (left) and Lorna Kirlew who made the presentation at the event. The selected organization receives 10 percent of the proceeds of that event. Dr. Belcher is the mother of Keva Belcher,  a middle school math teacher who served as a member of the Girls and STEM panel at this year's conference.

In May of this year, Every Girl Can received citations from Congressman Chris Van Hollen and Congresswoman, Donna Edwards in recognition of our ongoing programs for empowering girls and women.

We are ever so grateful for all the support and blessings we have received.
