This coming Saturday, In the Loop Ministry Group is proud to offer churches in this Presbytery a chance to come together for conversation and education during a summit entitled "Being the Church in the City."  The summit will be held from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Hunting Ridge Presbyterian Church, 4640 Edmondson Ave.  The cost is FREE but the deadline to register is TODAY, Monday, Oct. 5!

What will you get for giving us five hours of your Saturday?  For starters, you will get to hear the Rev. Dr. Byron Wade share some of his congregation's experience as it evolved into an urban church in Raleigh, NC and hear about his participation in the Moral Monday movement happening down there.  There will also be time for questions and answers as participants discuss how our congregations can become more involved in our city.  You will also get the opportunity to participate in a workshop that will benefit your community ministry.  Featured workshops include:
"Organizing in the Community," presented by the No Boundaries Coalition; " Listening to Your Congregation and Community," presented by The Center; and, Moving from Surviving to Thriving: a Conversation About Your Congregation.

If that's not enough you will also enjoy a hot, catered lunch, worship on the lawn and an opportunity to fellowship with our churches in the city.  You'll learn about the exciting things going on in our communities and how you can be a part of the ministry.  But wait, there is even more -- In the Loop sponsored seven folks to attend Big Tent this past summer- by coming to the summit- you can share in the knowledge they have gleaned from that conference.
We are also collecting school supplies and financial contributions to benefit Thomas Jefferson Elementary/Middle School in the Hunting Ridge community.

This event will be five hours well worth your time.  Help us explore what it means to be the church in the city.  Remember to contact Wanda at the Presbytery office TODAY to reserve your spot!  See you on Saturday!  Registration opens at 9:30am with the summit programming beginning promptly at 10am.

Thank you for your support!  Carrie Finch-Burriss, TE at Kenwood Presbyterian and co-convener of In The Loop Ministry Group.
