World Communion Sunday

OFFERING FOR REFUGEES ON WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4

On World Communion we traditionally collect a special peacemaking offering. This year the offering will focus on our response to the Syrian refugee crisis. A portion of the offering will stay here at Nassau as we continue to work on and prepare for receiving a family in our midst. The other portions of the offering will be split between Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and Church World Service. Please come to worship prepared to give generously to this special offering.
Plan Ahead: Sunday October 4
World Communion Sunday Schedule
  • No Church School for children and youth - There is no regular church school on this special Sunday so that families may worship together to celebrate World Communion Sunday with our brothers and sisters around the world.
  • Nassau Church's annual welcome luncheon for newly arrived international students at Princeton Theological Seminary will be held in the Assembly Room at 12:15PM. This is a family-friendly event with some of the students bringing their spouses and children. The luncheon is free to all. Come welcome these students and hear about the journeys of faith that have brought them to Princeton!
  • Sunday evening activities are on their regular schedule: 5:00PM - Cantorei/Middle School Fellowship; 6:00PM - Youth Dinner; 6:40PM - Sr. High Fellowship/Middle School Choir.

Plan ahead to join us for these special activities. The Princeton Half Marathon will be taking place between 7:00AM and 10:30AM. There will be intermittent road closures on numerous streets as well as lots of visitors parking in town. Please allow extra time to get into town and park. Worship, adult education and child care will proceed on the normal schedule. The attached map will assist you in determining whether the course route impacts your route to church.

Writers Needed! Lenten Devotional 2016

Easter comes early next year (March 27), it's time to start putting together our 2016 Lenten Devotional.   It has been a meaningful part of our Lenten observance for several years now and is not a lot of work when we all pull together. More details can be found on the Lenten Devotional page of the church website.

To help build our skills, this year the Adult Education Committee is sponsoring a special Lenten Devotional Writers Workshop on November 1 at noon in the Assembly Room.  The workshop will be led by Roslyn Anderson Flood.  All interested writers are invited to attend.  Bagels will be served.

Questions, to learn more, or to add your name to the list of writers-please contact Larry Alphs, 609-683-1232or Lauren Yeh in the church office, x106.

Music for All Concert

Many with conditions such as autism and Down syndrome do not currently have access to live classical music because they cannot sit still or quietly for long periods of time. Music for All is a new concert series designed to be informal so audience members will be free to speak or move around as they desire.

On Friday, October 2, Nassau will host a benefit concert at 7:00PM with world class chamber musicians Toby Appel, Edward Arron, and Paul Huang. Post Concert Reception with Artists at 8:00PM; Gala Dinner with Artists at 9:00PM. Tickets are on sale now, details can be found on the Classical Music for All Facebook Page.

PTS Community Festival

Princeton Seminary is hosting a community festival on Saturday, September 26 from 12:00-4:00PM on the seminary campus. There will be food trucks (Feed Truck, Surf and Turf Truck, House of Cupcakes, Jammin Crepes), live bluegrass music, and free games and a bouncy house for kids as well as tours of the seminary and new library and information about the Farminary.

Michael Hawn from Perkins School of Theology will lead a workshop for youth and adults from 1:30-3:00PM about learning different cultures through singing their music -  a great opportunity for interested choir members or anyone who likes to sing!  Everyone is invited to worship in Miller Chapel at 11:00AM led by President Craig Barnes.   More information is on the website.
