Message From the Principal

Here it is - our last week newsletter for the 2014-2015 school year!  We thank God for this wonderful year. This school year has been filled with many blessings, discovery and hope.  We thank you for the privilege of working in partnership with you to education your child/ren. We thank each one of the teachers and staff who have worked tirelessly to give so much to the school community and we thank for Fr. Thuong for his pastoral leadership.

We give an abundance of gratitude to our 7th & 8th grade Honors Algebra teacher Mrs. Linda Milani who is leaving after 9 years of caring and dedicated service to St. John School. In addition, we also thank Mr. Britt Pennella (Mr. P), our Music teacher for his 6 years of enthusiasm and love of music here at St. John's.  Mr. P has chosen to take on new endeavors with his music career and we will certainly miss him.  We wish both of them success and happiness on their new life journey.

I pray that St. John the Baptist will continue to have a tremendous impact on your child/ren and families. God has blessed us with many gifts and opportunities to serve Him in this place at this time. St. John the Baptist is a great place to be and I know we will continue to work together to make it even better. I know all of you are looking forward to a nice summer break and I hope you find time to relax, rest, and spend quality time with family. I look forward to the 2015-2016 school year and hope for another fantastic year of Catholic education - see you on Wednesday, August 26th at 8:00 am for the first day of school!

Summer Blessings,

Dina Trombettas
A Message From Mr. P

 Dear St. John's parents,

I want to thank you for giving me the privilege and joy of teaching music to your children for the past six years. We have learned, laughed, and sang together for some time now!! St. John's kids know their music and they have definitely "schooled me" on music many times but it is now time for me to leave with fond memories of some amazing children who's voices will be with me wherever I go.  I can't thank them enough for the joy they have brought to me over the past six years. I'd like to think that we finally came up with a good barter system of mass songs to pop songs along the way!!!!!

I will miss them so much!

Thank you,

Britt Pennella

Please remember that the school must complete its year-end financial statements on June 30th and all delinquent accounts impede this process.  Did you know that we still have several openings for the fall of 2015 in Kindergarten, and several openings for all other grades?  Any current family who refer a new family to St. John the Baptist School will receive a $200.00 Tuition Credit for the 2015-2016 school year.  Credit will given to families on your May 2016 tuition and all families must fill out a Family Referral Form available on School Speak or in the front office by September 4,2015.  A $200.00 tuition credit will be given per family that you refer.

Immunization Policy For 2015-2016

The recent measles outbreak across the nation has caused a reevaluation of the current Personal Beliefs Exemption, AB 2109, that allowed parents to opt out of their children receiving required vaccinations. That law allowed that only after a doctor's consultation, providing parents/guardians with information and health risks of communicable diseases, could parents/guardians be allowed to decline vaccinations for their child. In keeping with the change currently being proposed within the California legislature, the Diocese of Oakland will be changing its policy for the 2015-2016 school year.

As of August 2015, all students entering our schools in grades K-12 will be required to comply with the California Department of Public Health Grades K-12 Immunization Requirements (Form IMM-231). The only permissible exemption will be a Physicians order based on a medical condition that prohibits a child from receiving required immunizations. All students currently in our schools will be expected to comply with this policy as well, effective August 2015.

The Diocese is taking this action to safeguard all children and in particular those children who have serious health conditions, such as being immune compromised due to transplants or malignancies, that make it impossible for them to be vaccinated, and where exposure to a communicable disease could be life threatening.

There will only be One Exception to this ruling effective with the 2015-2016 school year: If a Doctor signs a statement that the child has had a Titer Blood Test which shows that the student has adequate levels of antigens (immunities to a disease) in their system then we can accept this doctor signed statement in place of a 2nd shot.

Your PPP Hours Are Now On Schoolspeak
