Examiner Spotlight:
Brian Chapman, Organization Development Specialist, City of Oshkosh

Brian Chapman Brian Chapman first became interested in the Baldrige Criteria after learning of the success Coral Springs, FL and Irving, TX had achieved by applying the Criteria to their operations. As an aspiring City Manager Brian felt it was important to learn more about the Criteria and understand how it could be applied to local government management.

"By seeing how other organizations use the Criteria first hand, I have been able to take the Criteria and diagnose problems we as an organization were having in achieving our desired goals. It has been an invaluable tool in helping us prioritize the scarce resources available to us to create a thriving and sustainable community for our citizens."

In addition to his service on the WFA Board of Examiners, Brian is also a graduate of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Emerging Leader Development Program. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with friends and family in the great outdoors. Most Octobers Brian can be found at camp in Michigan's Upper Peninsula chasing deer and grouse.

Brian's must read list: The Innovators DNA, Money Ball for Government, A Team of Leaders, and Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress Free Productivity.  His favorite app is Evernote.  "I love using Evernote to organize and prioritize what I have going on. I also like being able to collaborate with other users on projects or documents, which is facilitated by Evernote."
