Visiting Member Banks to Spread the Word About CBFS and Member Programs for 2016

On Tuesday, President & CEO Greg D. McCurry and CBFS Executive V.P. Kevin Burr visited banks in northeast South Dakota.

Greg and Kevin shared information on the recently expanded relationship between ICBSD and CBFS.

CBFS is an independent insurance agency owned by the Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota. Through CBFS's relationships with major insurance companies, members have access to a wide variety of valuable resources.

CBFS was formed in 1997 to serve only community banks and has a strong commitment to be advocates for our ICBSD members and to find the best company, coverage, and pricing that is available.

Members interested in finding out more should visit www.cbfs.biz.

Greg also shared information on our revamped ICBND/ICBSD Cooperative Liquidity Program and our newly-launched
Member Networks.

If you have question or are interested in joining the Liquidity Program,  please visit this link to download a PDF participation form.  The first test of the Liquidity Program will be completed in February.

CFPB Seeks Advisory Council Applications

Currently serving on the CFPB Advisory Council are ICBSD Members Jack Hopkins of CorTrust Bank and Angela Beilke from American Bank & Trust.

Membership on the CBAC is a great way for community bankers to make sure that their concerns are heard by top CFPB officials.

CBAC members serve two-year terms.

If you choose to apply, you will need a recommendation letter from a third-party. ICBA will provide a letter of recommendation if you are interested. We have had great success in the past in placing ICBA members on the CBAC. If you would like to apply, please contact Joe Gormley, ICBA's Assistant Vice President and Regulatory Counsel, at [email protected] as soon as possible to convey your interest.

More information can be found on the CFPB's website.

The CFPB is also seeking applicants for the Consumer Advisory Council.

Complete application packets must be received by the CFPB on or before February 29, 2016 to be given consideration.

He Couldn't Make Light of His Crime

According to the U.S. Mint, in 1864, James Clarke, an employee of the Denver Mint, stole cash, certificates, and a 10-pound brick of gold. He tried to escape on horseback, but the horse ran away. After getting only a few miles out of Denver, Clarke found his loot too heavy to carry and threw the 10-pound gold brick away. Clarke was later caught and ordered to leave the territory.
