MEM9119/11 MEMORIAL
Reflect, Remember and Honor
Continuing the tradition of remembrance, a memorial will be set up on the front lawn of Milton honoring those who passed tragically on September 11, 2001. Volunteers are needed to help with this important memorial; this is a great way to earn hours for various clubs and organizations and make a difference. A memorial service will also be held on Friday, Sept. 11th at 8:00 a.m.

"This is a meaningful way to engage students, teachers and the community as we reflect, remember and honor those who lost their lives on that tragic day of September 11, 2001. While my classmates and I were only three years old at the time of this terrible tragedy, we all have a responsibility to ensure none of us ever forget. By remembering and honoring lives lost of both victims and first responders, we strengthen what binds us together as a community and as a nation", commented Savannah Bailey.

Opportunities to volunteer and be involved in this important memorial are as follows:
  • Thursday, September 10th - placing flags with alphabetized names on the front lawn of Milton from 4-10 pm, * Friday, September 11th - a memorial service beginning at 8:00 am on the front of the school (all are welcome and encouraged to attend),
  • Saturday, September 12th - the memorial will remain on the lawn for the community to view,
  • Sunday, September 13th - removing flags and names from the front lawn of Milton from 12-4.
On Thursday, September 10th right after school, please meet Savannah on the front lawn of the school. We will begin working right away. Even if you cannot come right after school, please plan to attend as soon as you can given this process takes many hours and many volunteers.

Also, please note on Sunday, September 13th there is another volunteer opportunity as flags and names of victims need to be respectfully removed and stored for next year. We will meet on the front lawn on Sunday at noon. Any and all time that you can offer is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please contact Savannah Bailey at 678-237-3303 or [email protected].

This is a time to reflect, remember and honor all who lost their lives.
