Last week, students participated in PetroChallenge. Students learned a lot participating in this simulation and competition.  The winning teams earned the most amount of money as well as maintained confidence in the market throughout the competition. We are excited to announce the first, second, and third place teams!

First: Trisha Litong, Robert Mares, Pedro Mandujano
Second: Dylan Gates, Joshua Shorungbe, Leah Werline, Pamela Vera
Third: Alejandro Martinez, Isaiah Diaz, Joseph Martinez, Justin Douglas Lawson

A huge thank you to IPAA, PESA, Schlumberger, and Oxy who made this event possible for our students!
Important Updates
Energy families,

If you have not purchased a Energy polo for your student, you need to buy one as soon as possible. Energy polos are required for guest speaker events, competitions, and field trips.  As mentioned in previous newsletters, IPAA polo shirt funds have been reallocated to support field trips and student opportunities.  We require the new Energy polo shirts to be purchased and worn on field trips, guest speaker series, and other school sponsored events.  This is a very important school wide initiative and we appreciate your support!  If you have questions regarding your polo shirt purchase please contact Ms. Maltbia at [email protected].

Thursday, January 28th, ninth grade students will have a guest speaker event and will need to be in an Energy polo.  Students will now be given detention if they are not wearing a school polo at these required events. If you believe your child received detention by mistake (either they purchased a polo or were wearing it at the event) please ask them to speak with Ms. Moon.
SAT Testing Date
The SAT will be administered on campus for all eleventh grade students Tuesday, April 12th.  Mrs. Griggs, our Dean of Instruction, will be working with students in their English class to register for the testing date.  If you have questions regarding the April administration of the SAT please contact Mrs. Griggs at [email protected].

SAT Preparation: Students were registered and enrolled in a free online SAT tutorial program offered by Khan Academy this past fall semester. The program is designed to support the new version of the SAT that will roll out this April.  Students have access to this program and should be working their way through the tutorials in order to best prepare for the April SAT.  Log in with your student tonight to see their progress!
National Honors Society
Energy Institute High School is excited to announce the first class of inductees into the National Honors Society! These students have shown outstanding scholarship (3.5 GPA or higher), leadership in their classrooms or communities, and at least ten hours of service.  They have set the bar high for our campus chapter of NHS!
