The box can be manipulated, deconstructed, or adorned in any way imaginable. The finished work can hang on the wall or from the ceiling, or sit on a pedestal or the floor. Works will be judged by members of Western Loudoun's arts community. Prizes will be awarded for the Most Thinky (the most intellectual concept), Most Boxy (the work that best captures the concept of "box"), and Most Outside (the work with the greatest display of sheer creativity). Students are also encouraged to enter in the Most Likely to Succeed category - for free! Register by October 12 to participate at www.roundhillartscenter.org.

Splotch Monsters with Steve Loya
Artist and teacher Steve Loya grew up watching movies and TV shows with lots of cool, creative monsters in them. Star Wars, Godzilla, Ultraman, and Spectre Man were a few that left an impression, and Steve also had a love and appreciation for insects and animals. Splotch Monsters began as an experiment and a daily creative exercise.  Making Splotch Monsters is fun! These critters are created from paint, inks, and more, and can go in many different directions, from cute and cartoony to more serious. Starting out as semi random paint "splotches", things like eyes, ears, horns, limbs, spots, stripes and more are added to bring them to life. Create your own set of "Monsters" with Steve just in time for Hallowe'en!
Friday, October 23, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $30 per family includes materials and pizza dinner.
