We Want You at the Haggin Golf EXPO! |
We need you to help out! It's fun, easy, lots of members to get to know, opportunities to shop deals, did I say fun? You need to do this and if you are a new member this is a wonderful opportunity to get to know your sisters!!!
We need help running the booth for 3 hour shifts between 8:30am and 5:30pm on all three days (Friday, April 24- Sunday, April 26). We hope get 3 people in the booth for each shift. If you can volunteer for any of these times (and feel free to sign up for more than one shift!), you'll enjoy your time there. During the slow times, you'll be able to check out the rest of the Expo! If you are planning on coming out to the Expo anyway, why not spend some time in the EWGA booth!!

GRANITE BAY RECAP
APRIL 6, 2015
We had 10 EWGA ladies joining another group of mostly men for a shotgun start at beautiful Granite Bay Country Club. The weather was perfect, the course in great condition. Only bad thing was a really long round of golf. A few holes with all three of our groups waiting on the tee box.
However, a great thing happened: Our very own Del Sayles-Owen became the newest member of the two club by getting a two on hole number 3 over the water. It was a beautiful shot and an awesome putt. Congratulations, Del.

Rules Clinic on "Obstructions"... the Joy of Learning
|
On April 7, seven members and guests attended this clinic taught by John Nakamura, past NCGA President and Tournament Official. Everyone gained a better understanding of "Rule 24" which covers the types of obstructions and the corresponding relief. John emphasized the importance of learning the definitions and why they serve as a foundation for understanding the rules. Carol Wilkening, EWGA member, had this to say about the clinic: "When we "new" golfers begin playing with others, the rules experienced golfers apply to our mishaps on the course can seem random and difficult to comprehend. The Obstructions class offered me an understandable context, with real-life video examples and the confidence to tackle the "Rules of Golf" book. I not only learned a lot, but thoroughly enjoyed it as well." Kathy Tejada, Evelyn Fallon, Kayleen Kott and John Nakamura |
Swing for the Girls - You Can Help |
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento and we need your help to make it successful.
EWGA members and their friends will form threesomes and the fourth will be a girl from The First Tee organization. This is a great opportunity to watch young girls from The First Tee interact, play golf and learn from their First Tee experiences.
Come out and enjoy the experience of playing golf with our up and coming stars of tomorrow!
All levels of golfers (women and men!) are welcome -- this event is all about fun!!
Details:
- Sunday, May 31
- At Morgan Creek Golf Club in Roseville
- We only have space for 30 adults, so sign up soon!
- If you would like to play with anyone in particular, indicate their names when you register - just remember that it is only 3 adults in each group.
- There will be a Barbeque Buffet following golf, and we will be auctioning and raffling lots of great rounds of golf and maybe a few other things too (see below), so bring your checkbook or credit cards!! Proceeds benefit girls of The First Tee, so be generous!
- Included in the fee are: greens fee, cart, range balls, and barbecue.
The Auction and Raffle: This is where we need help!
It would be wonderful if members would be willing to donate items for the auction or raffle. It doesn't have to be golf related, so think "outside of the box" and, please, let us know if you can help. Help us make this a great event for the girls! If you can help, please contact
Linda Reid. She'll put you in contact with the right person.
