Rape of the Lock
is a new opera composed by Deborah Mason based on Pope's masterpiece. Catherine Turocy will be doing the modern stage direction. Caroline Copeland, (Associate Director of the NYBDC) choreographer, will create in the neo-Baroque style for members of the New York Baroque Dance Company playing sylphs, Carly Fox Horton, Alexis Silver and Meggi Sweeney Smith. O Come Chiare e Belle with stage direction by
Catherine Turocy for three singers and small Baroque orchestra. This hour long serenata depicts Rome's return to glory.
Arthur Haas conducts the Stony Brook Opera cast and Stony Brook Baroque Players.

A special evening on the life and times of the illustrious Joseph Boulogne, Chevalier de Saint-George, son of a French planter of the lesser nobility in the Caribbean and a woman of African heritage. The story of the improbable rise of this amazing man to prominence as one of the most important violinists and conductors in 18th-century Paris will be told in this multimedia evening featuring a new ballet by Valerie Shelton Tabor of Contemporary Ballet Dallas, with period social dance by Baroque choreographer Catherine Turocy and Haitian dance expert Marcea Daiter.
This unique evening, funded by a grant from the Donna Wilhelm Family Fund of TACA, will be given in cooperation with the Booker T. Washington School for the Arts, in their fabulous Montgomery Arts Theater. Read More
