Hosanna E-Update
The WAIT is (almost) OVER!

BEHOLD! I bring you GOOD NEWS of GREAT JOY for ALL PEOPLE!
~ from Luke 2

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Waiting in line can be one of two experiences. See if you identify with the examples below:

First Example: Waiting in Dread
You're standing in line at the post office or the grocery store, waiting for your turn. You're tapping your foot and keep looking at your watch. You don't want to be in this line. You don't have time to be in this line. Before long, you begin to think, "Oh, I can't wait for this to be over!" Often times, the other people in line with you feel the same way! No one speaks to anyone else. Clearly few are enjoying the experience; the impatience or irritability you feel might even be visible on your face. Such an experience of waiting in line can seem isolating, almost lonely.

Second Example: Waiting in Excitement
Now think about the times when you waited in line at an amusement park, or to see the new Star Wars movie. In these instances, the waiting is much different. People are excited and you might even be talking to some of them about the ride you're getting ready to experience, movie you are about to see.

This second example is the kind of waiting we are called to in Advent. As the Church, we wait during Advent and look forward to celebrating the fact that God loves us so much that he sent his Son into the world to save us. This waiting is far from empty; rather, it is full of the hope that God promises us as we prepare for Christ at Christmas. This waiting is important because it is during Advent that we wait in joy, in hope, and in anticipation for the wonderful event we are about to experience-the feast of Christmas, the coming of Christ into our lives in new ways, the return of Christ in glory at the end of time.  This certainly is GOOD NEWS of GREAT JOY for ALL PEOPLE.
  • On Christmas Eve, December 24
, we gather and hear the story; a new view from the manger! The Passing of the Christmas Light- will be part of all Christmas Eve services.
    • At 4pm in the Great Hall the Worship Band plus brass will lead us. There will be a special message just for children as they will gather at the manger.
    • At 9pm and 10:30pm in the Garden Chapel we will gather in a more intimate setting to hear the old story. Charlie Ollmann and the Hosanna Choir will lead us in song.
  • On Sunday, December 27, at both 9am and 10:30am, our very talented Higher Ground Youth and Higher Ground Alumni, under the direction of Pastor Jen and Andy & Ann Wachholz, will lead us in worship. You won't want to miss this!
O Come, Let Us Adore Him!   With JOY and HOPE and PEACE and LOVE!  See you in church!!
     Pastor Linda

PS- Look for places of JOY and HOPE and PEACE and LOVE during this final week of Advent and use the hash tags #viewfromthemanger and #hosannafl to share it with us on Instagram or Facebook! Look for an ADVENT PAUSE devotion each day on Facebook with #viewfromthemanger and #hosannafl

Countdown to Hosanna's
FMSC MobilePack on
April 1 & 2, 2016 = 100 Days!!

God has blessed Hosanna richly. You can   help reflect that love by supporting this
mission to enrich the lives of so many   children by providing needed nutrition in order for them to thrive. We need to raise $30,000   to cover cost of the food and another $5,000  for building maintenance following the MobilePack. Hundreds of volunteers will be needed on April 1 & 2 to help pack the food.

Ways YOU Can Help
  1. Take home a Change-4-Change glass jar and continue to fill it with loose change and/or currency and bring it to worship on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights  at connect360.
  2. Write a check to "Hosanna" (write "FMSC" on memo line).
  3. Tell your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc. about this MobilePack and ask them to sign up for one or more of the time slots or even organize a team to sign up.  We will soon publish a link for volunteers to sign up online for a time that best works for them.

Yogadevotion will begin a new session on Saturday, Jan. 9th, 2016 9-10am in the Lakeside Room (upper level). The 7-week session runs through Sat, Feb 20. Cost for the 7-weeks is $50. Please enter through the north doors (Door C).  Make-up sessions will be available at various times and locations.

Yogadevotion promotes strength, flexibility and peace in body, mind and spirit through weekly Saturday morning devotional sessions.  Carrin Mahmood, certified and experienced Yogadevotional instructor, leads the hour long sessions. Women and men of all ages are invited to participate and enjoy this meditation time, while enjoying the benefits of yoga. No previous experience needed, basic yoga will be taught.
