After nine wonderful years, I have decided to step down as Executive Director of Gathering Waters: Wisconsin's Alliance for Land Trusts at the end of 2015.
Working with the land trust community has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many dedicated land trust staff, board members, and supporters to help protect the places that make Wisconsin special.
As I contemplated moving on, I was reassured by the knowledge that Gathering Waters' organizational position is strong because of our solid team of staff and board and all of our committed supporters.
During this period of transition, our External Relations Director, Mike Carlson, will become the Interim Executive Director as the board of directors deliberates on the best path forward for the organization. Mike has been with Gathering Waters for eight years, primarily leading our successful government relations program, and has proven himself as a great asset to the organization. As I step away, Gathering Waters is in good hands.
Beginning in 2016, I'll be moving on to a new opportunity as president of the Aldo Leopold Nature Center. I'll be assisting Gathering Waters' board and staff with the transition through the month of January and look forward to supporting the mission however I can in the future!
Please see the note below from Gathering Waters' Board Chair, Thomas Mitchell, and as always thanks for all that you do to support the important work of Wisconsin's land trusts.
