ROYOMARTIN PLYWOOD PLANT RECOGNIZED FOR SAFETY BY TOP INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION
|
Martco L.L.C.'s plywood facility in Chopin, Louisiana, was recognized on June 25 by APA - The Engineered Wood Association as being the safest North American plywood mill in the APA safety program. Known in the marketplace as RoyOMartin-Plywood, the plant won the "Annual Safety and Health Honor Roll, First Place, Division 1 - Plywood" and "3-Year Safety Award 2012-2014, Division 1 - Plywood" awards through the 2014 APA Safety and Health Awards Program, in which 76 APA-member wood-product facilities across the U.S., Canada, and abroad participated. According to APA, "The APA Safety and Health Program is designed to be the premier safety award program for the structural panel and engineered wood industry in North America. It encourages and recognizes operational excellence with the goal of reducing injury and illness rates year over year."
In a ceremony at the RoyOMartin-Plywood facility, APA President Ed Elias presented the awards, which he described as "the finest safety awards in [APA's] plywood categories." Vice President of Plywood Joe Mackay and Plant Manager Jeremy Burford praised all plant personnel for their dedication to safety, with Mackay stating, "These accomplishments only happen with a committed, engaged workforce." He also commended APA for its safety focus.
"I could not be prouder of the RoyOMartin-Plywood team," explained Roy O. Martin III, president and CFO. "It is true that our success lies in our people. We are committed to providing our employees with the safest place to work. RoyOMartin cares, not only about you, but about your family, and our 'I Believe in Zero' safety program is just the start of it," he told those employees in attendance, which included various organizational leaders, members of the plant's central safety committee, and others.

Between the months of June and August, it happens daily.
You take a break from your business, hop on social media and suddenly you're wrapped in a fantasy world created by photos of beaches, airplanes, mountaintops and surfing. Instead of finishing an order or responding to that overdue email, you get lost in a whirlwind of adventures and 28 minutes later, finally getting back to business, you move along with a slightly less productive day.
With ideal vacation photos littering your Instagram and Twitter feeds, it's hard to distance yourself from the adventures other people have during the summer. In fact, 45% of workers encounter the same concentration obstacle and find themselves distracted during summer.Studies prove that projects take 13% more time and workplace productivity drops 20% throughout the summer.
Whether you own the business, have employees or are the sole worker in your small business, productivity lags as the days get warmer. With only a few weeks left to combat the doldrums of summer, click here and read about three small business tips to own your summer.
