Philip Wright Award

Congratulations to                 Lizzet Flores, recipient of the 2015 Philip Wright Award. This award is presented each year to the outstanding special education professional in the Pioneer RESA district.

She is an invaluable member of our Special Education Department who oversees and manages every aspect dealing with student records. Her job is one that does not appear to touch students, and yet she has her hands on the placement and followup for every Special Education student in our system. She uses her bilingual skills to communicate with Spanish parents in conversations throughout our department and system and often is called upon to translate district phone messages sent to parents. Her job is behind the scenes, yet her commitment keeps us serving students effectively every day.

Congratulations to Lizzet! Job well done!

Gainesville City Downtown Master Planning

On February 10th, Gainesville Middle School collaborated with the University of Georgia and the City of Gainesville to organize a focus group.  This group discussed the Downtown Master Plan and how they wanted to see development within their own community in the future.  This was a great opportunity for students to discuss real life issues and have input.
GEA Soccer Club

The soccer club at Gainesville Exploration Academy has become a student favorite thanks to the hard work of Jesse Mendoza, Kelly Gilliam and Edgar Arroyo. Students participating in the club worked hard throughout the first semester to improve their soccer skills before competing against each other for a championship. Congratulations to the Rhinos on becoming the first GEA soccer champion, Way to go!!
