ISO 55000 - What is this standard, and how does it impact you as a municipal asset manager?

A 3-part series around asset management standards and what they mean, and how they can be used by local governments.

We continue to address the continuing need for information from our members (especially smaller communities) around the approach they should take to AM.

11:00am MDT     September 22, 2015
For CNAM Members Only

Today's asset manager is facing daunting challenges of being called upon to implement asset management processes and frameworks for their department, or organization as a whole. In many cases, they do not know where to start and seek assistance from peers, consultants, or even just the internet. In the past 10 years there have been advances in standards specific to asset management that have spawned regionally and by industry.
CNAM is please to bring you a three-part series on three different standards that are being used globally in different circles. This is the first webinar in this series on the most recent standards released by the ISO organization.

Embracing A Culture of Asset Management in Your Municipality

Helping Organizational Professionals Create a Culture of Integrated Asset Management into the Way their Municipality Does Business

WORKSHOP DATE TARGETED TO MEDIUM - LARGE MUNICIPALITIES: Tuesday, November 3, 2015

WORKSHOP DATE TARGETED TO SMALL MUNICIPALITIES: Wednesday, November 4, 2015

TIME: 8:30 am - 4 pm EST

Workshop Overview:
Municipalities have faced the first challenge and created an Asset Management Plan that meets Ministry requirements. However, Asset Management goes beyond a set of guidelines; it is a way of doing business that can only succeed if diverse professions and departments across the organization collaborate to create repeatable and meaningful processes that embed Asset Management into the organizational culture.

MFOA and CNAM have developed two highly interactive workshops that will be broken down into four topic areas and will take both the Finance and program level Engineering perspectives into account. The topic areas are:
  • Levels of Service - Setting a framework
  • Levels of Service Targets - Establishing current and desired levels
  • Risk - Selecting a framework and model
  • Risk Prioritization - Using Risk to inform your Capital Investment Plan

Additionally, a single case study will be woven throughout the topic areas to demonstrate how one Municipality has been able to put the elements into practice, as well as to discuss lessons learned and current gapping strategies.

MEDIUM - LARGE MUNICIPALITY CASE STUDY: Peel - population size 1,407,000 (2013)

SMALL MUNICIPALITY CASE STUDY: Hasting Highland - population size 4,168 (2012)

Each interactive workshop will include hands-on activities that will focus on ensuring practical takeaways outlined in each topic area. At the end of the day, each attendee will walk away with an actionable workplan they can take back to their respective municipality.

Who Should Attend:
These workshops are designed for finance officers, engineers, planners, program level experts, and senior managers responsible for ensuring the sustainability of their local infrastructure now and in the future.

You Will Learn How To:
  • Set a Level of Service Framework
  • Establish desired Levels of Service and determine the current state of services
