Shirley was born on April 28, 1947, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to the late Wade Alfred Arnold and Sammie Kate Adcock Arnold. She is survived by her husband, Dr. James E. Moore, President of Christian Home & Bible School. They married on August 27, 1966, and enjoyed 48 years as a happy couple. They married while students at Alabama Christian College, now Faulkner University.

Shirley and James have two children: A son, Scott and wife Cassie Moore, who live in Tampa, Florida, and a daughter, Tonya and husband Joe Emory, who live in St. Petersburg, Florida. They have one grandchild, Brady Moore, of Tampa. They have a foster daughter, Mikyo and husband David, and two foster grandchildren who live in Montgomery, Alabama.

She is preceded in death by one sister, Betty Sue Brogan, and survived by four sisters of Shelbyville, TN: Thelma Vickers, Loretta Bayne, June Jolly and Mary Newman. She is preceded in death by her foster parents, Carl and Wilcie Fisher, and survived by two foster sisters, Carleta Ross and Judy Holmes, all of Leesburg, FL.

Shirley earned an Associate of Arts degree in elementary education from Alabama Christian College. She later worked as a legal secretary and office manager for a law firm in Natchez, Mississippi, and as cashier for a doctor's office in Orlando. Her life, however, revolved around her roles as wife and mother, along with dedication to her church.

Mount Dora Christian Home & Bible School played a major role in Shirley's life. She came into the Children's Home program at CH&BS while in ninth grade and attended high school there, graduating as Valedictorian of her senior class. She was a cheerleader and was named Homecoming Queen in her junior year. Shirley was a gifted singer and performed with musical groups and choruses during high school and college.

Shirley re-connected with CH&BS when the family moved to Orlando in 1979 where her husband, James, served as minister of the Concord St. Church of Christ. The Moores immediately enrolled their children in the school in Mount Dora. She was more formally connected when her husband was named President in 1990.
