Upper Chattahoochee Chapter #436 - Trout Unlimited

March 2014

There's been no busier month for Upper Chattahoochee TU members.  First Tom Schmeltzer led us in the Trout In the Classroom release on March 1.

On March 8, UCCTU hosted the Georgia Council of all of the Georgia Chapters at their quarterly meeting at Ippolito's.  Thank you to the many Chapter Officers and Board members who devoted their Saturday morning to networking with other Chapter leaders and learning about and working on the activities of the Council. Saturday, March 15 UCTU Program Chair Ron Cheslock's team of fly tiers represented us, along with teams from other Georgia TU Chapters at "Tie One On" at Bass Pro Shops

As our UCCTU website calendar is outdated, let me give you a couple important upcoming dates.  Saturday, June 21 we are needed on a stream restoration project at Pretty Branch.  And on Saturday, July 26 we are needed at Martin Branch. This will continue previous year's work the Chapter has performed on both of these brook trout streams.  Note that the Martin Branch date is a change from an earlier announcement.

Please pay attention to other notices in the Newsline on dates for Sweep the Hooch, Fishing Dayz, and the Spring Fishing Trip.

We are experimenting with TU National's micro site for UCCTU.  It allows multiple Chapter leaders to post information.  Please check it out at ucc.tu.org. NOTE: No "www" prior to web address.

Sincerely,
Brad

No one knows West Georgia better than Kent!

Faces in the Stream
Bill Lott

Bill Lott developed a keen interest in fishing at an early age growing up in New Jersey.  He began saltwater fishing near his family's vacation home on an island, and from time to time would try his hand in the creeks and ponds near his home.  There were stocked trout in a creek near his home, and he would bowfish for carp in local ponds. Continue Reading Here

Are Those Banjos I Hear? 2014 Southeast Regional TU Meeting

Why, yes they are! It's the Foxfire Boys and they'll be picking and fiddling bluegrass music at the closing BBQ dinner hosted by the Georgia Council. Regional meetings are a great way to join fellow anglers from across the Southeast, make new friends, renew old friendships, get in some fishing and learn about how TU is making fishing better for you! This year's Southeast Regional Meeting for GA, NC, SC, TN, VA and WV will be in the North Georgia Mountains at the Dillard House in Dillard, GA on March 29th. More Information Here

Water, Water, Every Where, But Not A Drop To Use

Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to use. That's how some Georgians may feel if Gov. Deal has his way in the General Assembly with SB 213, the cleverly named Flint River Drought Protection Act. Read More
