BJ Barksdale, TCA President
|
It is the start of a new year and I find myself at the half-way mark of my tenure as TCA's 66th president. TCA has become more than just a professional family to me. I have served on the Board of TCA for more than eight years and I'll tell you a little secret; TCA is truly all about helping its members. When I need to consult about a case, a TCA colleague is the first to mind. If I need to do a referral, I peruse the TCA "Find A Counselor" database or contact a trusted member.
TCA has been here to encourage and cheer us on. They have also been here to support and console us. Now that's what family is truly about.

Medical malpractice claims can be asserted against any healthcare provider, including counselors. In fact, over $14 million was paid in indemnity and expenses for malpractice claims involving counselors, according to the most recent CNA HealthPro 10-year study.

February 1, 2016 is the last day to register to vote in the March 1st Primary Election. In Texas, many elections can be determined in the primary election. The Republican and Democratic primaries are equally competitive this year with a number of contested races in the House and Senate as well as Congress. Most of these candidates have no clue about the extensive training that professional counselors receive and how you impact the people who live in their districts.
If you don't tell them, who will?
