Dear Antioch School District 34 Stakeholders,
Welcome to the first edition of the
"D34 Dash!" This publication will replace the traditional "Friday Flash" and will take on new features including key highlights of District 34 news and information and a listing of District sponsored events from each school. The intent of this communication is to share common information to both parents and D34 employees. We intend to send out the D34 Dash very week on Fridays (typically by noon), but also may send it out when there is timely information to share between publications. This is just one of the ways we are implementing our core values which reads "We believe that Corroborative partnerships and
effective communication among the community, home and school accelerates student success."
Fox Lake Tragedy
There is no avoiding the topic of the tragedy that occurred in the Fox Lake community during the recent days. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Lt. Joseph Gliniewicz and the Fox Lake community. There is no doubt that this incident has had a ripple effect throughout the surrounding areas, including Antioch.
We appreciate the cooperation of Antioch School District 34 staff, students and parents, as our normal operations were replaced with the implementation of a variety of safety protocols to ensure the well-being of our staff and students. I applaud our employee's efforts to go above and beyond to ensure students felt safe at school and could focus on their learning.
District 34 will resume normal operations beginning on Tuesday, September 8
th after returning from the Labor Day extended weekend. We will continue to use our website, Facebook and PowerAlert blasts to communicate with parents and staff any change in our status.
Transportation Services Update
As shared in the "District Transportation Services-
Open Letter To Parents" earlier this week, our team is diligently seeking ways to improve the situation. We are in the process of adjusting bus routes to ensure maximum student safety with a focus on quality services including accurate, on-time pick-up and delivery of students.
Connections Newsletter
As an added strategy of our core value of "effective communication among the community, home and school," District 34 was pleased to publish the very first issue of the
Connections newsletter.
The Village of Antioch, Antioch School District 34, and Community High School District 117 have partnered to produce a joint newsletter which will be published quarterly. We understand the importance of communication; therefore, in an effort to better communicate with the community and to maximize efficiency through shared services, we are proud to introduce this historic first issue of the Connections newsletter which was mailed to every household in the Antioch School District 34 boundaries. Look for the next issue in November! View the
