It's Volunteer Appreciation Week and we want to say THANK YOU to all our amazing volunteers! Family Pathfinders is a volunteer driven organization and our programs are successful because of you! We hope you will be able to join us this afternoon at 12:00pm as we celebrate you and honor the hours of dedication you have given to helping individuals and families become self-sufficient.

Our volunteers are truly dedicated to giving back. Read how Tanya first came to Family Pathfinders as a mentee and now serves as a Mentor passing on her experiences and success. We are also proud to share with you some staff spotlights. Our Executive Director, Kathryn Arnold, was part of a panel discussion at the annual Women's Leadership Council's Women United celebration. She represented the United Way's Earn Well Initiative and discussed the importance of Financial Coaching. Also, our Second Chance Mentoring Coordinator, Toby Jones, spoke at the Tarrant County Reentry Coalition's monthly meeting and discussed her experiences with barriers to successful reentry in Tarrant County.

Please remember to check out our upcoming events and share some  valuable resources with your mentees and coaching clients.

When Tanya first came to Family Pathfinders, she was looking for a mentor. During her participation in the Mentoring Program, she was able to successfully transition off all federal aid and obtain a job that has given her financial stability. She met all her goals and was ready to give back to her community!

In 2012 Tanya became a pre-release Mentor for our women's Second Chance Mentoring Program. The program is designed to help individuals successfully transition back into the community. As a pre-release mentor, Tanya helped clients set goals for reaching self-sufficiency. After mentoring in this capacity for three years, Tanya has now transitioned to one on one post-release mentoring and has begun a new volunteer role with the Fort Worth Police Department assisting in domestic violence situations and offering victims assistance.

Thank you, Tanya for your many years of dedicated service as a volunteer Mentor!

March 26 was the United Way of Tarrant County Women's Leadership Council's annual Women United celebration. The Women's Leadership Council is a local network of women inspiring women to be role models of generosity, advocates for important causes and volunteers for change.

The annual celebration featured a panel session with representatives from the United Way's three initiatives: Learn Well, Live Well and Earn Well. Representing Learn well was Melody Johnson, former superintendent of Fort Worth ISD, representing Live Well was Lillie Biggins, President of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth and representing Earn Well was Family Pathfinders Executive Director, Kathryn Arnold. Each panelist discussed how their programs helped further the United Way's initiative and how the services they provide benefit Tarrant County.

This grant year, Financial Coaching has served more than 470 clients and we are well on our way to surpassing our target goals. Our volunteer coaches allow us to provide coaching sessions throughout Tarrant County, a key factor in our success.

The Tarrant County Reentry Coalition (TCRC) works to enhance collaboration among reentry service providers and encourages broad-based community support and involvement for prisoner reentry.

Last month's coalition meeting featured a panel of formerly incarcerated persons who have successfully reentered the community. They discussed the various barriers to reentry in Tarrant County, specifically employment, housing and transportation, and shared their own experiences.

Toby Jones, our women's Second Chance Mentoring Program Coordinator, discussed how she overcame these barriers and successfully made the journey from incarceration and reentry to self-sufficiency. In the Mentoring Program we believe that anyone can recover and become the person they want to be.

Thank you, Toby, for sharing your journey with us and the clients we serve.
