to help make sure our Ragan's HOPE families can send their child to school well prepared for the 2015-2016 school year.

On average it costs us $50 per child, and we need a total of $25,000 to ensure every child is provided with
the necessities they need.

THANK YOU Team Leaders & Volunteers!

Bec, our North/South Carolina Area Team Leader, and her daughter Gianna have been hard at work taking care of the school supply needs for our Ragan's HOPE families in the area.

PARTNERSHIP UPDATE

CREATIVE PARTNERSHIPS:

Your specific business may not directly support families like many of our partners do, but YOUR BUSINESS CAN STILL HELP RAGAN'S HOPE FAMILIES!

If you are looking for good candidates to fill positions within your company, we are looking to provide more resources to our families to help those who are seeking employment. If you have open positions, please email the job information and contact information to [email protected].

TRADITIONAL PARTNERSHIPS:

Calls went out this month to partners with Ragan's HOPE in an on-going effort to gain feedback and field any questions or concerns they might have. We received many positive comments of appreciation for all we do. Our volunteers are certainly making sure we are providing needed services and ensuring we meet expectations. Thank you volunteers!  You are doing a great job.

We met with the Naval Air Base in Pensacola, Florida, recently to discuss having them become a sponsor of the Ragan's HOPE Foundation. During the conversation, we discussed adding them to our partnership listing for referrals of military families who may need support and those who might like to volunteer their time. We met with the Captain of Security, who assured us she would be speaking with other Naval Captains about our efforts and programs.

In Fort Worth, Texas, a vendor fair will be held in September, hosted by the Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition. This vendor fair is open to organizations which provide various services to children and their families. A for-profit organization's registration fee is $100 and the non-profit registration fee is $50, if you or someone you know would be interested in participating. This event provides an opportunity to make families aware of the various community organizations in their area ready to provide services or products.

Information for the vendor fair:

When: Saturday, September 26, 2015
10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Where: Arborlawn United Methodist Church
5001 Briarhaven Road
Fort Worth, Texas 76109

We value each partnership formed through the Ragan's HOPE Foundation and continue our efforts to increase partnership level within these cities throughout the U.S.

If you have someone you think would be a good partner for Ragan's HOPE, please contact  Dan Watson

Thank you in advance for keeping us in mind as we continue to grow!

Recipe

We love to provide you with recipes that could help feed families who need meals that freeze or reheat easy as they tend to children who may be in and out of the hospital.

Here's a great recipe from Janet, one of

our volunteers in Louisiana!

Corn Crab Chowder

Ingredients:

  • 1 16 ounce pkg frozen whole kernel corn, cooked according to directions
  • 1 16 ounce roll frozen cream style corn, cooked according to directions (McKenzie's is best, but hard to find.  Pictsweet is also good.)
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked mashed red potatoes
  • 1 quart or more of milk, half & half or a pint of half & half & pint of milk  (Adjust liquid depending on desired consistency
  • 16 ounces crab-meat, boiled/steamed shrimp, cubed chicken or pan sauteed fish

  • Seasonings: Season to taste with Tony Chachere's, salt, lemon pepper, liquid crab boil, etc.

Directions:

Add the first 4 ingredients in a large pot and heat until creamy and warm.

Add 16 ounces of crab-meat, boiled/steamed shrimp, cubed chicken or pan sauteed fish

Season to taste with Tony Chachere's, salt, lemon pepper, liquid crab boil, etc.

Optional:  top with mozzarella cheese and green onions when serving.

You can use pre-cooked tub mashed potatoes, and canned corn, but frozen tastes better to me, and really doesn't add very much cooking time.

ENJOY!
