coffeeSEPT 4: First Friday Coffee Social - THIS FRI, 8am outside cafeteria
Join your fellow Miralomans for a cup o' joe, a pastry and some good conversation!  Our First Friday Coffee Social takes place every month on the first Friday. 

Our kickoff event takes place THIS Friday, Sept 4th from 8-9am outside the Cafeteria.

Back to School Night is Wed, September 9 from 5:30-7pm!

 

While this is not a mandatory event, we highly recommend that an adult representative of every Miraloma student be present.


The schedule will be as follows:

5:30-5:40: All teachers and families meet in the GYM for Welcome/Introductions
(5:35 Teachers dismissed to their classrooms)
5:40-5:45: All parents/guardians travel to classrooms
5:45-6:15: Classroom presentations**
6:15-6:30: Final Questions/Stop by other rooms/etc.
6:30: Teachers dismissed
6:30-7:00: PTA reception in library

**All families with more than one sibling will be encouraged to attend the oldest sibling's classroom presentation.

Childcare: Please try to make arrangements for your child(ren) to stay at home for this event. Limited childcare will be provided on the yard for school age children. Drop off and pick up will be in the Cafeteria.

Thank you in advance for taking an active role in your student's education at Miraloma Elementary School.

runFUNDRAISING: FUN RUN is Sunday, Oct 18th - Save the Date
What is the Miraloma FUN RUN?
The FUN RUN is a school wide community event and one of the major fundraisers here at Miraloma.
  • It is styled like a walkathon where friends, family and co-workers sponsor our students/teachers as they walk/jog around a quarter mile track. 
  • Each student/family asks sponsors to donate money (pledges) for their student runner. 
  • Everyone is welcome to come! It's a wonderful opportunity to meet the Miraloma community, get some exercise with your kids, and raise funds for our school. 
  • After the RUN we gather at centerfield for a community picnic.

Please SAVE THE DATE--October 18! Email us to get involved and watch this space in the newsletter for more information as it becomes available. We are looking forward to seeing you out on the track!

snackVOLUNTEER: Snack Team Needs Your Help!
The Healthy Snack Program is in full swing, and the snack crew hopes that all your children are enjoying the local and seasonal produce they are eating for snack every day.

We are 100% volunteer based, and we have several spots that we still need filled to keep the program running smoothly.

BIN COLLECTION/COMPOSTING/CLEANING
  • days needed: Tues, Weds, Thurs, every other Friday
  • time commitment: 20-30 minutes depending on how fast you can collect, bins, compost snack, and rinse
  • this can be done before end of shcool, after school or at evening pick up.
  • we ask if you can't do a week, that you find a replacement for that week.
  • you can also partner with someone and trade off weeks doing it.
AM SNACK SETTER OUTER
  • days needed: Tues
  • time commitment: <5 minutes
  • moving the snack bins from the snack refrigerator and setting them on the snack cart
  • this needs to be done in the morning before 9 am
SNACK PREPARATION
  • days needed: Mon and Weds after morning circle
  • time commitment: 10-45 minutes
  • setting out cuting boards, bowls of water, washing and cutting produce,counting out pieces into each class snack bin, placing the bins in refrigerator, cleaning up

membershipACTION: Get / Renew your PTA Membership
Join the PTA to be more involved in your child's education and become a part of a great parent community. The PTA budget pays for family social events and most of the enrichment programs at Miraloma.

This is an issue which has negatively impacted California schools and students for the last 47 years and it is time to change that. As citizens and parents, I ask you to get involved and sign this petition and share it with your community.
