Leadership Introduction
From Traceye Jones, River Cities United Way Board Member

Traceye Jones
River Cities United Way would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You!

RCUW has been quite fortunate this year in receiving donations from all our communities to assist our family, friends, and neighbors in their time of need.

RCUW has had an abundance of folks volunteering, giving us a helping hand with our fundraisers, office assistance, and getting the word out.  We are truly blessed to have such giving people in our community.   Thank you.

UPCOMING EVENT...

From Society of St Vincent de Paul Sacred Heart Parker Conference...
"A local family that we have assisted in the past came to us due to financial situation where they were losing there home. This particular family has seven children, the mother is blind, they were in need of temporary housing while looking for future housing of at least three days in hotel. We were able to put them up in a hotel and provide food for those three days. The family has found a more permanent temporary housing while they are in the process of finding a new home."

Free Family Fun Expo
Seven months in the planning - the staff and volunteers of River Cities United Way successfully arranged the Free Family Fun Expo that took place on Saturday May 9th and Sunday May 10th at the Bassmaster Elite event located at Lake Havasu State Park.

30 Retail/Vendors and 6 Food Vendors were on scene, with activities for the kids like our annual Diamond Dig;  a fishing tank, BB gun range, and many wildlife and safety educational booths provided by Arizona Game & Fish.

Another of the River Cities United Way ran activities was the Cardboard Boat Regatta. Though only two entries, Sterilite and Wells Fargo, many spectators made way to the beach side to watch the races and encourage participants.  Sterilite won the "Fastest Finisher Award" while Wells Fargo won the "Peoples Choice Award" for most creativity in their design.  Both will go on to participate in an unrelated Cardboard Boat Regatta happening in July and we wish both teams huge success.

Campbell Employee's pictured above, gathered back on March 19th at Wheeler Park on McCulloch Blvd.  to celebrate another mark of accomplishment in our 2014-2015 campaign goal.

Campbell employees voluntarily manned the Diamond Dig at the Free Family Fun Expo located at the Bassmaster Elite even on Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, 10th.  In addition, they also donated tables and chairs.

Campbell displays the full array of "Give" by supporting payroll deduction with the employees and the employer supports our Corp Cornerstone program, "Volunteer" by sending people when we or our partner agencies need help, and "Advocate" by letting others know why they support RCUW.
Congratulations Trap Shoot Winners!
Saturday April 25th members of the Mohave Sportsmans Club and members of the public gathered for a Trap Shoot Fundraiser sponsored by 7 Mile Shooting Club, co-sponsored by Nucor Steel, with a percentage of the proceeds donated to River Cities United Way.

A meal, prizes, and raffles were available to participants.

Pictured top right is Laura Hansen, Kingman Area Director for River Cities United Way, 1st place winner Travis Menter, 2nd place winner Bill Barnes, and 3rd place winner Shane Vernon.

River Cities United Way would also like to congratulate  Tim Patterson who won the raffle for the Ruger Red Label 12-Gauge Over-Under Shotgun.

Thank you to all 12 participants for joining us in this awesome fundraiser which raised $2300 for River Cities United Way's Kingman Region.

Would you like to see this fundraiser return to Lake Havasu City?

River Cities United Way is seeking out new partnerships under a revised fundraiser based on a single-product sale (i.e. "large drink") throughout the month vs. our previous one night dine-out per week.

If you're interested in partnering or re-partnering with us, please contact our Director of Marketing, Robert Starkey

Quote of the month...
"I think that when enough time has passed, when you've survived that which you didn't imagine you could, there's a dignity to that. Something you can own. A pride in knowing the pain made you stronger."
