Notes and news from Alita Wilson,
Pentangle's Executive Director:
As students and adults enjoyed watching
Selma in Town Hall Theatre last weekend, the cast of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF worked on their lines and choreography in the conference room upstairs. This week and next our stage will begin its transformation into the fictional town of Anatevka.
The music of
FIDDLER can't help but give you the chills. The multi-generational cast comprised of professional, semi-professional and amateur actors have themselves become a community. In the opening number "Tradition" their voices soar in unison as though they've been performing together for months. Next week we start tech rehearsals. For theatre newbies, myself included, tech rehearsal deals with just the technical elements of the production -- when the lights go on and off, when music and other sound effects occur, when the set crew moves pieces of scenery around, when an actor might have to do a fast costume change, etc. It can be a time-consuming, somewhat tedious process when cast and crew run through the entire production, either in its entirety or cue-to-cue.
When the tech phase is completed, the cast has a dress rehearsal when performers finally don their costumes and move around the finished set in preparation for the Preview, Thursday, February 5th at 7:30 pm at Town Hall Theatre.
