Information and resources for Imagination Library families
July 2015
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
It's hard to believe, but the very FIRST Imagination Library book was mailed in Erie County in July 2013! That means, the Imagination Library is turning 2 this month! We are also celebrating the 175,000th book being delivered in July!
THANK YOU for being a part of this game-changing program that is helping prepare our youngest citizens to enter kindergarten with a LOVE of reading and ready to learn.
Beating the "Summer Slide"
Summer slide may sound like a playground or water park, but it can also be a dangerous side effect of
children who are not actively engaged in learning over the summer months. This learning loss can cause children to
fall behind in school simply because their brains are not getting enough exercise. Luckily, learning doesn't just happen in a classroom!

READING TIP OF THE MONTH
Involve children as much as possible. Ask questions and encourage conversation about the book. This helps them connect the story with their own lives and also helps them compare the current story to others that they have heard.
