"I Have a Dream" receives matching challenge grant to fund more scholarships!
"I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County is one of seven institutions to have received a grant from the State of Colorado's Opportunity Scholarship Initiative for college scholarships.

Thanks to a recommendation from Boulder County Commissioners, "I Have a Dream" will represent Boulder County with this matching scholarship grant of $250,000 (based on the number of low-income students in the county.) "I Have a Dream" and its pre-collegiate partners need to raise another $250,000 in matching funds to unlock this grant to begin distributing the $500,000 to Dreamers and other low-income students involved in pre-collegiate programs this spring. Check out the Denver Post article on the state's plan to give $7 million in scholarship funding to institutions around the state.

About the "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County
Since 1990, the award-winning "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County has assisted 780 children from low-income areas in achieving their education and career goals by providing long-term personal and academic support, tutoring, mentoring and four-year tuition-assistance scholarships to each graduating student. The organization sponsors entire groups of students from elementary schools or from low-income housing sites and works with these children and their families from elementary school through high school graduation and then "to and through" college. Currently, there are seven active "I Have a Dream" classes in Boulder County, with three classes in Boulder, two in Longmont and two in Lafayette. The "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County has doubled expected graduation rates for its graduating classes of students and has awarded $2 million in scholarships. The program follows the national model established in New York in 1981 by founder Eugene Lang.
