Organ Recital This Sunday
On Sunday, April 26, at 4pm, renowned concert organist Ken Cowan will play a full program on the Advent's Aeolian-Skinner organ.

Ken Cowan is one of North America's finest concert organists. Praised for his dazzling artistry, impeccable technique, and imaginative programming by audiences and critics alike, recent feature performances have included appearances at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa California, Philadelphia's Verizon Hall, Spivey Hall, and Walt Disney Concert Hall, as well as concerts in Germany and Korea. Suggested donation at the door: $15/$10. His unusual program will include the transcriptions of Mephisto Waltz by Liszt and the Prelude to the Meistersinger by Wagner, as well as music by Guillou, Bach and Roger-Ducasse. This concert is co-sponsored by the Boston Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

The Walk for Hunger

Dear family, friends, and loyal supporters,

On a cold and misty Sunday back in May of 2003 Sarah, Emilie, Jack and I, along with Fr. Warren took on the task of a 20-mile journey through Boston, Newton and Cambridge in support of Project Bread and the Walk for hunger.  This exciting and a bit uncomfortable Sunday journey proved to be the first of 11 walks the girls would participate in.  Through these last 11 years the girls have navigated their way through middle school and high school, and our team has grown each year, adding walkers from our littlest supporters still in strollers to those dedicated to feed us before we set out on our journey!

And we are going again this year! 2015 strong! As in previous years our family will take on the role of "Team Captains" for our team Church of the Advent in Boston.

The Church of the Advent in Boston holds one of the longest running community dinners serving those in need in the city of Boston and is a recipient of the role Project Breads plays for those in need.

These 11 years have been for our family a wonderful opportunity to bond, help others, share a commitment and have fun!  But sadly, all good things need to come to an end, in September Sarah and Emilie will head to college and it seems only fair to pass the baton to another friend or family up to the task and enjoyment of "Team captain" for next year and possibly years to follow!  These 11 years have been very meaningful for our family and we thank you for your continued support.

We hope you will join us again this year as we close our 11th year! You can register online to join the team or to make an donation at www.support.projectbread.org (our team is "Church of the Advent"). For more information, call Cassie Gurnon at 617-967-3678 or email her.

Thank you and Love to you all,
Jack, Cassie, Sarah and Emilie

Theology on Tap - Monday, May 4

Dr Sean McDonough - "The Path to Paradise: Creation, Counter-Creation, De-Creation & Re-Creation" // BOSTON THEOLOGY ON TAP is proud to host Dr Sean McDonough on Monday, May 4, at 7 PM! Dr McDonough, professor of New Testament and former chair of the Biblical Studies Department at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton, has written and lectured extensively on apocalyptic literature (like the Book of Revelation), creation, heaven, ethics, and even fantasy literature. Later in 2015, his book Creation and New Creation is due, and he has graciously agreed to join us for an evening to discuss "The Path to Paradise: Creation, Counter-Creation, De-Creation, and Re-creation." Sean will discuss God's great "creation project," which entails not only creation in the beginning, but also humanity's efforts to create a counterfeit civilization, God's response in taking apart what he (and we) have put together ("de-creation"), and his ultimate renewal of all things.

Sean came to Gordon-Conwell in 2000 from Pacific Theological College in Suva, Fiji, where he had served as the Chair of the Biblical Studies Department and as a lecturer in New Testament. Still active in ministry as well as the academy, he teaches Sunday School and occasionally preaches at First Congregational Church in Hamilton, and he speaks for Medair, a Christian relief organization based in Switzerland. He's a great lover of Boston's sports teams, so join us to give him a huge Boston welcome on May 4 at 7 PM at the Rattlesnake Bar & Grill.

Sunday's Collect
O God, whose Son Jesus is the good shepherd of thy people: Grant that when we hear his voice we may know him who calleth us each by name, and follow where he doth lead; who, with thee and the Holy Spirit, liveth and reigneth, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
