Focus on the Family

I may be a little different than most, but I get excited as the Summer wanes and Autumn begins.  The temperature lowers to more enjoyable numbers and the color change of the leaves leads me to desire to be more frequently outside in the community in which I live.

I want to dedicate this coming Autumn to outreach in my neighborhood.  I wish to get outside of my home and comfort zone and spend this Autumn as a steward of God's grace.  As a family man, I want my wife and my kids to join me in this venture as well as we seek together to reach our neighbors with the gospel.

With this goal in mind, I plan on using the advice in the following articles and resources to equip my family to do just that:
Most of us know a little about our neighbors, but how many of us really know them?  In this article found at Desiring God, Marshall Segal gives us some interesting insights and helpful tips on how to embrace our calling as neighborhood missionaries.

Rachelle Wiggins has written an excellent article on how to get the whole family involved in reaching the neighborhood for the gospel.  By simply allowing your home to be both a "hub and a haven", your family can become a lighthouse in the community.
Several years ago, teenagers Alex and Brett Harris grew disenchanted with the low expectation of their peers and started what they called a "rebelution."  The result was Do Hard Things, a challenge for teens to rise out of mediocrity and embrace a lifestyle they may have never thought of before.  Their website, Do Hard Things  is filled with resources to equip your teen to do the same.

What about you?  Will you join me in this venture?  What do you think could be the result of five, ten, or twenty families at Salem Baptist Church who commit to doing the same?

Let's find out.
