ANNOUNCEMENTS
What's going to happen next year?
Where will your classes be? 
All students who will be enrolled in the MRCP or MLA programs are invited to come to a Move Meeting, have some pizza and find out about the plans for next year:
  • Friday, May 1 - RCP Student and Faculty Move Meeting, Seaton 106c, pizza and information about next year, noon - 1 pm
  • Monday, May 4 - LA Student and Faculty Move Meeting, Seaton 106c, pizza and information about next year, noon - 1 pm
Checking out of Studio:
It is hard to believe that the time to move out of studios is quickly approaching. Due to the Seaton Hall construction project, you will need to remove ALL personal items. 

Please follow the below list:
  • Remove all personal items - Any personal items left behind, including mini-fridges and microwaves, will be discarded. 
  • Leave the white plastic tops on the desks. 
  • Throw out any trash and recycle any recyclables. 
  • Return all of your university keys to Jody by the end of the day May 15.

Please remember that returning students must return their studio and Edmond's Center keys to receive keys to next year's departmental spaces and graduating students must do the same to receive their diploma.

OUR CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Nicholas Mercado, MLA 5th year,  won Best in Color in the APDesign Delineation Competition.

Associate Professor Jason Brody  was named the APDesign Professor of the Year by K-State Housing and Dining. 

LAR 442 Spring 2014 received a Central States ASLA Merit Award in Oklahoma City, Okla. on April 24 for the Envisioning Better Blocks for St. Joe class project, available  here. MLA student Erin Wilson prepared the competition entry for the class.  Associate Professor Blake Belanger and Assistant Professor Alpa Nawre were the studio instructors. 

Assistant Professor Brent Chamberlain presented "A Spatially Explicit Analysis of Ecosystem Services in Clayoquot Sound, BC" at the Association of American Geographers 2015 Annual Meeting Conference on April 22.

Assistant Professor Brent Chamberlain presented an invited talk on "Computational Models for the Management of Landscape Character" at  Argonne National Laboratory on April 23 .

Associate Professor Howard Hahn led 12 Boy Scouts through the Landscape Architecture Merit Badge during the K-State Merit Badge Conference on April 25.

Assistant Professor Huston Gibson and colleagues in the MS Community Development Great Plains Idea consortium received the "Capping the Stone Award" for their work on the MS CD assessment rubric and report. The award was given on March 30 at the annual GP IDEA meeting held in Omaha, NE.

Kelsey Steward, MLA 3rd year, has been selected as a 2015 ASLA Council of Fellowship Scholarship recipient. 

Katie Leise, MLA 5th year, has been named the 2015 K-State Olmsted Scholar. 
OF INTEREST
Four Grant Writer's Workbooks  are available on reserve in Weigel Library. There workbooks specific to NIH, NSF and USDA/NIFA as well as one on successful proposals to any agency.
