Any Given Child is a citywide program providing arts exposure to students from Kindergarten to 8th grade in the Tulsa Public Schools. Modeled after a national program initiated by the Kennedy Center, CMT just completed our second year providing educational concerts to 4th graders.
This year, Chamber Music Tulsa brought the New York City-based Imani Winds to Tulsa to present their acclaimed educational programs to nearly 3,000 fourth graders. Imani Winds is widely viewed as one of the most exciting chamber ensembles in this country, and these classical musicians are musicians of color. The students were learning about the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn, and the physics that produce the sounds of their instruments. They peppered the musicians with questions and the enthusiasm was palpable as they listened and learned.
Next year, the Dal? String Quartet will be back to provide their high-energy introduction to chamber music, using works from the classical repertoire and music inspired by the dance and culture of their native Latin and South Americas.
Please help Chamber Music Tulsa continue to reach all the 4th graders in TPS by making a pledge or contribution now!
Many thanks,
Bruce Sorrell
