Celebrating a father's gift
Kiran and her father Kuldip

On Sunday, June 21, 2015 people in more than 80 countries will be celebrating their fathers on Fathers' Day. Here in Ontario, Kiran Singh will be celebrating her father, Kuldip, for another amazing reason: he gave her his kidney.

Kiran was only 23 when her kidneys failed in June 1997. While she began dialysis, many of her family members began testing to see if they might be a compatible organ donor. Luckily, both Kiran's parents were a match. Almost a year later Kuldip gave Kiran the kidney that would change her life. Kiran is still grateful to her father for the kidney and is proud of his ongoing support for The Kidney Foundation.

There was much to celebrate during our
50th anniversary. This was a year of reflection,
a time to honour our founders - the family of
the late Morty Tarder, and Dr. John Dossetor,
whose collective vision for the eradication of
kidney disease through research, along with
the ongoing support of patients, is still central
to today's mission.
