The First Fifty Fund Reaches 31 and $155,000!
2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of the BC Sports Hall of Fame. For 50 years, the Hall has Honoured the Past and Inspired the Future. From its original home at the PNE to its current home at BC Place, the Hall has provided a home to recognize British Columbia's champions and sport builders. Currently, there are 363 individuals and 58 teams inducted in the Hall of Fame.
Through daily visits, tours of the galleries, birthdays, special events, the Hero in You program and outreach, the Hall reaches over 50,000 people on an annual basis. The BC Sports Hall of Fame and its programs continue to inspire our youth and create future champions.

THE ASK/THE FIRST FIFTY FUND
Campaign Chairs Bill and Jana Maclagan believe it is important that the work of the BC Sports Hall of Fame continues for another 50 years and that can only happen if resources are available. In order to "kickstart" the "Next Fifty", we are taking the
the opportunity presented by the 50th Anniversary to do some additional targeted fundraising through a "First Fifty Program". The intention of the First Fifty Program is to identify fifty friends of the Hall who will donate $5,000 each. The donations are one hundred percent tax deductible. The donors will be known as the "First Fifty". To date we are grateful to have received 31 First Fifty donations and are looking for an additional 19. To learn more please email [email protected] or [email protected]. A pledge form for the First Fifty donations can be accessed here

50 Golden Moments in BC Sports History
The BC Sports Hall of Fame is celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout 2016 and we are looking for public input and support on the  50 Golden Moments in BC Sports History  as part of its milestone celebrations. The sport community in particular and wider public in general are invited to nominate or suggest events that should be considered as part of the 50 Golden Moments project in 2016.
"We're very proud of our 50th anniversary slate of inductees and we're also excited to join with the tens of thousands of people who make up the sports community to mark and celebrate the
50 Golden Moments in BC Sports History," said  Jim Lightbody, Chair of the BC Sports Hall of Fame . "We're very much committed to being a strong community asset in honouring the past and inspiring the future and that's why we're looking for input and nominations from everyone who cares about sport in British Columbia."
Public nominations for the 50 Golden Moments will be reviewed by joint panels of sports media and sports historians/archivists and compiled into a final list by February of 2016.
The 50 Golden Moments will then be counted down to the Banquet of Champions inducting the 50th Class of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, June 9th, 2016 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
"Part of the fun for us is making this interactive and receiving these 50 Golden Moments nominations over the coming months," said  Allison Mailer, Executive Director of the BC Sports Hall of Fame . "We're very thankful to be part of such a vibrant BC sports community and are happy to hear from current Honoured Members, provincial sports organizations, national sports federations, municipal halls of fame and individual sports executives and administrators, athletes, coaches and other community leaders."
The BC Sports Hall of Fame is planning to develop a special exhibit to commemorate the  50 Golden Moments in BC Sports History  in the spring of 2016.I t will be a signature feature of the Hall and will be the topic of our education and community field trips
