We find ourselves once again at the end of the year. A time to reflect on those things that are important to all of us; family, friends and traditions. er Thanksgiving weekend. Of course, this is my number-one son, Andrew, who turned 25 in September.

t Louisiana State University. We had a great time going out to eat (he was studying the rest of the time), and I enjoyed the 70+ degree weather! Who would have thought I would come back to 60+ degree weather in Pittsburgh? For those Food Ne
twork fans out there, we had Thanksgiving dinner at Johnny Sanchez, a cutting-edge Mexican restaurant. This is a creation of Aaron Sanchez and John Besh, both chefs with close ties to NOLA. Andrew was shocked (seriously shocked), when I announced where I had made our dinner reservations. "No roast turkey, MOM!" Well, there was a Thanksgiving menu; it was just not traditional. We both had great fun and a margarita!

We decided to start a new tradition this year. We used to go see the lights at Hartwood Acres, but they no longer have a display, so we decided that this year we would try Kennywood. We went with my brother's family and had a great time. We plan to make this a holiday tradition each year, even when Dylan (15) gets too old to come with my husband Jeff and me.
Derek Eichelberger:
It wasn't easy trying to get three kids and a dog to pose for a picture in front of our fireplace. It took us about 30 takes to finally end up with a usable picture! Shown in the photo are my children, Ethan (13), Ava (11), Dylan (7), and my wife Barbara and I. Everyone is so busy with activities, that even getting us all in the same room at the same time takes extraordinary planning.

The holiday season is when I take time to
remember the great memories with friends and family. This year's celebration will be no
different; I will fondly remember loved ones that can't be with us, and I will cherish the new memories that are created over the holidays. These simple moments in time are precious, so I place great value on celebrating with family and friends. I'm thankful for past memories, and for the blessings of great friends and family. Most of all, I'm looking forward to celebrating with my wife, Amanda, as we watch our two great young kids, Jackson (5) and Reagan (2) enjoy Santa!

This photo was taken while visiting our son, AC and his wife, Victoria, over Thanksgiving. The tiny baby in her arms is my first grandchild, Calvin Lawrence, who was born on November 7. Since they live in Tennessee, every minute we get to spend together is precious. My husband, Scot, daughter, Alex (23), and I are hoping for a time in the not too distant future when they live closer, and our times together are more frequent. I can't wait to see this little man opening gifts and enjoying the holidays in years to come. I love being a mom, but everyone was right, being a grandmother is great!

This is our family's 2015 photo. It includes my husband, Brian, and our daughters Samantha (12), Sydney (8) and Sara (6). It goes without saying that a household with three daughters can be drama-filled, but we wouldn't have it any other way! We've baked the cookies, wrapped the presents, and are all looking forward to spending time together with friends and family over the holidays.

With my kids scattered across the country, it's hard to get everyone together. When we do, we try to find adventures that everyone will enjoy. Many times our gatherings find us kayaking, on a high ropes course, or motorcycling through Death Valley. This particular photo was taken at Wigle Distillery in Pittsburgh's Strip District. We had a tasting and a tour. Megan and Boris loved the Ginever Gin, and took home an empty barrel to age their home brew. Happy Holidays and may your New Year be everything you hope for.
