Holtz Children's Hospital at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center is among the nation's top children's hospitals, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2015-16 Best Children's Hospitals rankings. Published online recently, the rankings feature the top 50 hospitals in each of 10 pediatric specialties. Holtz Children's is ranked in five specialties this year: 32nd in nephrology, 34th in diabetes and endocrinology; 39th in gastroenterology and GI surgery, 40th in cardiology and heart surgery, and 44th in neonatology. "Earning national recognition in five specialties is a testament to the excellence of the medical team at UM/Jackson's Holtz Children's Hospital and UHealth pediatricians," said Pascal J. Goldschmidt, MD, Senior VP for Medical Affairs, Dean of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and CEO of UHealth - University of Miami Health System. The Best Children's Hospitals rankings highlight U.S. News' top 50 U.S. pediatric facilities in cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology and GI surgery, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology. Based on a combination of clinical data and reputation surveys of pediatric specialists, 83 hospitals rankedin at least one specialty.
Holtz Children's Hospital is one of the largest children's hospitals in the southeastern United States. The facility provides research and treatment in a wide range of pediatric medical specialties.
